Radio end points & the MMM???

I've heard/read repeatedly that we should not turn down our throttle end point on our transmitters to limit the top power of our MMM set-ups. I would like to know why (technical) from Patrick (or other qualified person). The reason I ask is I've seen guys doing this with no problems but I've also seen guys loose the MMM while doing this. Besides buying a lower KV motor, is there another way to do it. Inside the MMM you can change the throttle curve but not the high end point.
Thanks

not exactly your question, but explains how they work, and why shouldn't do it.

Gear down (smaller pinion, larger spur) or switch to a lower cell count

I have my throttle turned all the way up on my DX3s.
