So I got this truggy from ebay brand new for $225 shipped :mdr: and need some help deciding on a few things.

ESC and motor? I'm thinking MMM with 2200KV, but the RX8 is looking really nice right now. I like that Tekin has a bigger motor selection. Then again, is it worth the higher price - programmer is even extra!

I want to run 6S and go 50+ mph. With 2200KV, I would use 13T pinion; if RX8, then 1700KV with 17T. Either one with the stock spur. I don't think it would run hot, but that's just a speculation.

I want to use Mike's motor mount and battery trays, but together, they're already $115. Steep, but looks really nice.

Only thing with RC-Monster motor mount, is that motor goes too close to front or rear brace. So you cant change spur to smaller one.
I have MMM + Medusa 80mm 2200kv with 4S, but i wanna go 6S.
Only thing that is weak in this truck is rims, i have broken 3 rims just recently, and those were ST Pro rims (same as you have).

Jabe: thanks for the heads up! I wouldn't want to have the wheels shatter while going full speed down a road. What gearing are u using in your st?

I have center torsen with 52t spur and pinion is 14t, front and rear diffs are stock.
Well those rims have been broken because very bad landing...

Btw. There is no need to make any new holes to chassis, you can manage with stock holes, even centerdiff can be flipped, you just need to raise Mikes motor mount for 1mm, to make acceptable clearance.
For 6S batterys (still coming), im going to use 11t. 52/10 is lowest gearing you can go with 36mm diameter 80mm lenght motor, without need of modification to center brace.
This calculator is very helpfull, when determining lowest gearing.

I am running 6s in a losi 8T with a Neu 1515/2.5d and MMM, recently I was running a 18tooth pinion with a 48 tooth spur and it ran hot but I was running in grass, I went down to a 16 tooth and will try that today. I run LPR tires in mine and happy with the results

It took a long time, but I finally got all the stuff and they're all mounted on the truggy.

I ended up with the following:

• MMM 2200
• 2 x 3s 25c 5000mah
• Mike's motor mount - man, this is a fine piece of work!
• Custom battery trays

Running 14t (Losi) pinion gear on stock spur. I can't fit a smaller spur without grinding something, but I think it is geared fine anyway.

What is that on the center diff, pinion, etc? Looks like metal shavings, but I'm guessing it could be plastic as well from your battery trays. It looks like the pinion is getting worn from the metal spur though, so you might need a hardened pinion.

I fit a 48T spur on mine, but needed to shave a couple fins on the 1515.

You should have gotten RCM pinions ;) Those losi's look soft and is wearing badly. Won't last too long like that. I think I run 15or16T/48 on a 2.5D/5S. Everything is always dead cool.

The white stuff is soap debris - I have a habit of using soap to lubricate spurs and pinions :whistle:

I would like to use a plastic spur though. I have one on my buggy - it is quiet and works great. Is there a plastic spur do you guys know of that is around 52T and would fit for the ST?

There are no 52T spurs that I know of. Get an RC-M pinion and you won't have a problem with stripping. They're cheaper than they used to be and the only one I've ever managed to wear out was promptly replaced. My replacement has probably 100 hours of hard use on it and I have it sitting in front of me--the contact area is shiny but there's no visible wear.

Nice conversion- what did you use for battery trays?
Also, you might want to consider making a series adapter out of 10ga wire.

IDK, I can't imagine you are going to find a plastic spur to fit the spider diff. Then you are buying a whole new diff.

Interesting on the soap. Hope the pinion works out then. I've seen some guys who have bought the OEM pinions which are not hardened as well as Mike's, and they end up chewing thru them faster. For a few extra bucks, its worth getting the best if you can. Mine on the HST is about a year old and very little wear.

Non hardened steel pinions last about 10 minutes in my truck.. then you have the joy of cleaning metal shavings up
