Another dead Monster?
I have been having problems with my Monster cutting out momentarily, then going back to working fine but the last time it cut out it wouldn't move. When I hit the throttle the motor makes a chirping noise and the rotor moves a bit as if it were cogging really badly. Does it need to go back to CC?

First, check ALL solder connections...then check the wires on the mmm plug which goes into the rx. Also, make sure that the motor leads are all good and tight.
Also, check the switch. I had a prob. w/mine and ended up wiring it together |
when i was testing the direction of my motor one of the leads lost connection, it did the same theing chirped a bit, cheack your motor wires

+1 on the motor wires....one of my solder plugs got loose after i nosed into a jump....same thing cogging and chirping....

youre missing a motor phase.
be cearful, the MMM's startup algorithms are different to other ESC's, they start with a lot of power untill they get EMF feedback from the motor at which point they finish their startup phase. becase there is a missing phase it trys to supply the startup current for longer and this may cause it to overheat. i think this is correct... but i do know that somewhere down the line you are mising a phase :P |
I'll check to make sure the plug is still connected to the PCB, but it died after some hard braking
EDIT: It's not even moving the rotor much, if it still had 2 phases it would twitch more. |
I checked over all the connections carefully and tried some other batteries and it did the same thing. It just sits there and screeches, I guess I need to box it up and send it back :diablo:
