Problem with Neu motor bearing
 

I keep loosing the bearing out of the 1515/1Y. The bearing is coming out of the wire end. It seems real tight when I put it back in the first time. I wonder if a little bit of red thread lock around the outside of the bearing would hold it in.

There's not a step/catch machined in the endbell?

If you are going Loctite route, it's Loctite green (retaining) that you want.

Are you using a flanged bearing? Some Neu motors use this type of bearing (it has a little lip on it).

No there is nothing on the endbell to keep the bearing in place. I have 2 extra flanged bearings but the OD is bigger than the OD on the non-flanged. I could dremel the hole in the end bell I suppose. The shaft side uses a flanged but the endbell side does not.

Is green locktite heat resistant? I was thinking of smearing some red around the outside of the bearing before I put it back in.

Just call Neu and ask them for the proper bearing. I busted the bearings on my TeknoRC Neu 1515 1Y and I sent it to them for warranty replacement of the bearings plus check to make sure the rotor/stator are good.

They are the proper bearings...I got them from Neu. I'll call them tomorrow though.

Neu has made running changes to their motors. Bearing sizes increased to make them more durable. It depends on when you motor was made, the model, etc. You need to get an accurate measurement of the bearing hole, so you can get the right sized flanged bearing. Neu customer support should be able to help you out.

Yeah. When Neu sent me the replacement bearings I told the guy that it was a 1515/1Y made in May 2008. I don't know...

Hum !! I have to tell you that I have suspicions about their new Can design ! As you can see, my 1515 has a "special" front end cover ! But this one hasn't been tightened well, then I have screw it with Loctite and will drill another hole to keep this part fixed ! But what have Neu done with this design ? It's not a good way for a buggy motor which is mounted via this front end cover !

SYLVERIS, I have the same suspicions as yours. I have a Neu motor with the same front end design. There is a raised lip around outside of the bearing mount. I hope Mike could modify the front motor cover to make it fit.

Castle made big improvement to their version of 1515, I've heard zero complain about the front cover or bearings.
