Can I Charge Li-ION With my BC6?
Well, my dad has camcorder batteries, and the original charger doesn't work..
So I was wondering if anyone knew if I could somehow "trick" the charger into charging it. The battery is 7.2V. One is 10.8 Wh And the other is 1350mAh. Any clue anyone? |
If it's a 7.2v pack, those are 3.6v nominal cells, which is obviously a little lower than the typical lipo 3.7v.
There are a couple ways you could charge that, depending on your charger's capabilities: 1: Set the CC/CV threshold to a lower value, something like 4.0 or 4.1v/cell. The charger must support a settable threshold, read the manual to see if it does. Or, there may be a "storage charge" setting where this value is settable. 2: Charge it on a 2s lipo profile but watch the voltage. When it gets to 4.0-4.1v/cell, manually lower the charge rate to keep it no higher than that. Your charger must support on-the-fly current adjustments; most don't. FYI: I don't mean stop the charge, set the current lower, restart, etc; I mean adjust the current during charge. |
Huh.
I just got home, and remembered that I was able to set the voltage, in the program selections. Well, turning it on, I switch to programming, and it sure does let me charge Li-IO (Which I assume is Ion) Got anything on this subject? I'm not sure if it lets me change the voltage on storage. |
Well, if it has a special Li-Ion setting, use that...

Lol, I just noticed it, sorry.
