Neu motor for Rustler?

Just out of curiosity what Neu motor fits the Rustler? Something that would be efficient and crazy, yet bolt right up.

Pretty sure a 1509 with around 3500-4500kv would be a perfect balance of efficiency & power.

Must be smooth can, the finned cans won't fit the stock tranny.

1509 as take down said, or you could get a 1412 (36mm diameter) which will allow for more gearing options and probably will run cooler.

A 1509 3300kvwould rip on 3s in that truck...I have the 3300kv 1509 in my crt.5 and love it...runs stone cold

I wonder how it the 1509 3300 compares to my Medusa 3300???

I have both...one in each truck...the Neu runs cooler and is a bit smoother. However, the Medusa is a very good motor

The Medusa is in my Daughter's truck...The Neu is in mine. I wanted a better motor for mine on the premise that I will be harder on it that she will on the Medusa

Thanks for your feedback! I have only ran my Medusa a couple times. This Thursday I get my VXL Rustler and it is going in that with the MMM. Just wondering what I can expect with 32pitch gearing. I am going to be running to start with 19/56. I also have a 21t to run with the 56 spur. Just for bashing. 2s and a 3s pack both 30c and 5000mah.

Up to a 1515 will physically fit

OZ-RUSTLER 03.24.2009 10:04 PM

I got a Finned Neu 1515 1.5d 2700kv in my 4S FLM rustler. I had to file down some fins to fit 12/58 32 pitch gearing. I had Zombie Maxx tires on all corners and was very efficient and super fast, but very unstable. Now I have put 2.2 wheels all round and can say that it is a beast. On grass, geared for 55mph, temps dont get higher than 150 on the motor. Super efficient.

The 14 series might be your best bet, same performance and efficiency but can fit the transmission without modding or grinding.

Yep either the 14 series or the 1509 smooth cans. Both are great for this app.

I guess I would choose the 14 series then due to it being sealed.
