interesting idea.
 
i was thinking. would it be possible to put the slipperential in place of a rear diff in a 2wd. i think it would be a intersting project to say the least. not sure what the benifit would be but it would be cool.

Not that much - most 2wd cars have a slipper and a diff anyway...

but some 1/10th scale electric have a trans, slipper on the imput and diff in the power part.

you could combine the two and mount the motor more forward instead of hanging off the back. this would also handle the high power brushless setup alot better then a 1/10th scale stock setup i think

If you mount it more forward than a tranny, how do you expect to couple the diff outdrives to the rear wheels?

no the sliperential would be in the same spot. the motor would move towards the front of the chassis.

If that's the case, you can do the same thing by flipping a tranny around.

this is true. but i still think this setup would handle bl power alot better than a stock setup.

I like your idea, but think it would be overkill in a 1/10th. I know you're thinking about less gear interchanges, but I bet the two additional interchanges in a 1/10th trans
(with 48p gears) when compared to the direct drive you propose (with mod1 gears) still has less loss due to friction. I bet rotating mass is less on the 48p setup also. Plus, you'd lose much of your ratio adjustability since size of the gears increases so quickly with tooth count in Mod1 gearing. Also, I've run 3s lipo and 5700 motors, and never had issues with 48p gears in a stadium truck.

Yeah, on a 1/10 it just isn't practical. However, if you were building like a 2wd 1/5 or so size stadium truck, then this would be a heck of a setup as it would result in the least rotating mass and least amount of parts to break.
