Help identifying part & what RCM motor-mount works for HCR Mutant Maxx center-diff...

Ok, I just got a very nice Hardcore Racing Titanium Mutant Maxx chassis with center-diff already installed, I just don't know the make or model of the CD, or more importantly the CD mount...I really need to know who makes the CD mount because I would like to know which RCM BL motor-mount will work, since it replaces one of the CD mounts.

If you don't know who makes the CD, do you know which one would work best? I will be running an MMM/2200kV combo on 4S (mostly) and 6S (sometimes).

Like I said, if all you know is who made the CD mounts, that will be great, since that will help me determine which RCM motor-mount will work.

Thank you for any help you can provide...here are some pics;

Those are ofna CD mounts. In fact, even the spur is made by Ofna. So you bought one it from Billytrucks.

Hey Lito, how are ya, man?

Yea, this one is from Scott...I traded him a 2.5R Revo engine for it, so I couldn't turn it down!

If it helps, the spur has 55 teeth...also, do all 1/8 center-diff spur-gears have the same bolt-pattern, where any spur-gear will fit any diff-cup? Also, is the same kind of true for the diff-mounts? Do you have any idea which RCM motor-mount will work for this chassis? And also, what CD is best...like maybe the Ofna 8-Spider (Torsen)?

The top-plate looks just like this GS S.U.T. top-plate...

And the diff-mounts look just like these GS Storm diff-mounts...I don't know what to get!

Which means this RCM motor-mount for the GS Storm should work, right?

Anyone else?

Chadworkz 03.31.2009 12:26 PM

Well, 4 other people have said it's a GS Storm CD and mounts, so it looks like I am going to get the RCM GS Storm BL motor-mount...sweet!

How is this going! Good to see you here!

Chadworkz 05.10.2009 07:51 PM

Still collecting parts for it...waiting on the VBS with 8-spiders and Racer-X, then I can start assembly!

Kcaz25 05.10.2009 07:55 PM

Cool this is gonna be a nasty truck! May keep up with truggies... don't hate, just sayin.

I thought VBS had to have its own skidplates? Mod?

Chadworkz 05.10.2009 09:17 PM

They do, so I will have to modify the chassis to use the VBS...it's worth it, though!

If I decide against it, though, I already have a set of NIP GA 7075 Bulkheads & Braces, NIP UE 6-Spider & Ultralite kit, and NIP UE Knucklehead Shock Tower kit!

I am also building this chassis although my top plate matches the bottom chassis. I decided to use factory grey bulks and RPM arms with the true track rears, the set rear toe angle is fine with me, I have had a lot of problems with my old Tmaxx stripping the screws out of the bulk, even aluminum. I am wanting to try to keep weight down as much as possible as well.
I just purchased everything I need to put together a new CD using a 46t spur. Also using the RCM mount. I still need to have custom center shafts made to fit the Emaxx Sealed diffs I am using.
It wont be extravagent like yours but it will be fun. I also plan to run the MMM 2200kv System on 4s and occasionally 6s

you can see where I had to trim the chassis to allow room for the rear arms. I should have the BL mount and CD in by this weekend.

Chadworkz 05.13.2009 12:41 AM

Looking good, man! I stripped the purple anodizing off of the top-plate since it has already been stripped from the chassis, and then did a quick scuff with fine steel wool, and finally did a quick polish with Mothers aluminum polish...titanium is a PITA to polish, lol!

Did you recieve your mount yet?? It appears mine may have been machined wrong. If you noticed in the pic above the bearing groove is on the outside on the mount. If I assemble the diff and mount as one piece the spur gear rubs the mount

Chadworkz 05.14.2009 09:10 PM

No, it wasn't machined wrong...

The motor-mount replaces the rear plastic mount, and puts the motor on the right side of the truck, where the Rx box is supposed to go...NOT where the nitro engine was. You will have to do a little modification to the upper-deck and relocate the Rx for it to work on the Mutant chassis (since it was designed for nitro, not electric).

I figured it out, I ended up just flipping the upper chassis plate over to the other side. I didnt want to cut it for structural rigidity. I didnt want the chassis to flex. I am going to grab a piece of carbon fiber and make a cover for where the battery box is cut out and mount my RX and ESC there.
