help for new spurgear?
Hey guys.
I have a brushless X1Crt but pinion and spurgear doing a lot of noise when it is metal against metal. Are there some opportunities to the problem? possible link to it. regards Kenneth |
Not really unless you get a plastic spur gear. Metal > metal contact will always make alot of noise to start with, but it will quieten down once they are broken in & worn a little.
|
okay, I thought, too plastic, but do not know where I buy it
|
Rc-monster might sell something, if not there are lots of online stores that will have them- have a check in the truggy sub-forum to see what solutions other people are using & the manufacturers.

I believe a lot of people run plastic Kyosho spur gears. Have a look at those. They're pretty cheap.
Mine makes a lot of noise too, but I don't mind as long as nothing's breaking. |
ok, I will try, but they must be modernized to sit on X1crt diff??
|
I think the screw holes should be the same, so as long as they are the same pitch (MOD1 or 32pitch) it should mount right up without issue.
|
okay, but maybe 46T spur is too little when I run 62T.
Can not see the available higher |
try a good set of earplugs.......lol...:-)

I run metal spurs... its not that bad. But you also get the reliablity of metal gears. remember to buy some RCM hardened pinions if you dont have them already. or the spur will eat you pinions alive.

You I have already
hardened pinions |
Try Eureka belt and pinion grease, it made my truggy quiet, and im using metal gears, it holds on gears.

be careful with any oil or lube that is not in an enclosed case when running in off road conditions they will attract dirt

People do not seem to address this often, so here I go...
If you play with the mesh adjust ment, and make tiny changes, you can get the gears to run quitely. I run metal on metal on my lst, and if set just right it hardly makes more noise than the motor. I do not know if the truggy layout amplifies the noise, but try making tiny adjustments and see if it helps the noise. As for putting the 46t plastic spur in, well, you will want to go with the truggy ratio gear sets in the front and rear. Currently the crt has buggy ratio, 13/43, gears, that is why it uses such a large spur. You can put the hot bodies lsp 10/43 gears in and run a 46t spur for the same overall ratio. Seems like alot of work to me, but if you want to run a plastic spur it is your best bet. |
