Question about the V.3 hybrid revo diffs
 

In the complete set, What diffs are used? I heard it was mugen?

yes, I pretty sure mugen is in there...I assembled mine and I have this spring-like shim and dont know where it goes...also it makes a grinding noise when I push the truck back and forth, is this normal or they not shimmed correctly? do these need a break in period to start sounding smooth?

Please rebuild the diffs immediatly - Without the spring disc everthing will be wrong:

luckily I havent applied any power yet...I looked at the instructions and cant see where the spring clip goes. (it looks like a pin-retaining ring for the FLM Rustler 17mm wheel adapters)..

Refer to setup 3 - It goes behind the first bearing.

I just finished building mine and once it is done right they are sweet. When tightening the case, be aware that you can over tighten and cause the gears to bind

The washer you are referring to is a bit of a PITA to get in....I used a small amt't of grease to help

just did a test fit of mine, the ring gear rubs slightly when dropped into a empty case.
I'm not worried about that, did you guys shim your gears beyond the stock setup? Mine feel slight notchy, I didnt over tighten the case, and I also dont have any grease on the ring/pinion yet. I would assume they might need slight shimming to get perfect.

I went with stock - I had a slight tight spot on ring gear but figure I'll run them for a while and see if they bed in...

A slight notchy feel is good for a new diff - after a run or so, they should break in perfectly. Shims may or may not be required, but usually no shims are needed. The spring clip retains the inner bearing. The retaining ring and the other small washer that is placed between the bearings allow both bearings to share the thrust load - much more durable and with the smaller bearings used, we felt it was necessary to retain or slightly improve the overall durability of the 1/8 diffs. :)

I have problem, I went to install the diffs in my revo and they are to short for my traxxas cvd's. I measured across my traxxas setup and it is 74.75 mm from the outside edge of one cup to the other. My new hybrid set up is 66.68 mm. So is it as easy as install the 6mm pins included with the kit and then install my traxxas drive cups? What axles/cvds are meant to be used with the kits stock drive cups?

Yes it is as easy as that - I havn't installed mine yes (just built them) but figured I could use the cups in the front and the 6mm outputs in the rear with the extended traxxas cups.

Yet to be seen if this is true though...

By next work break I should have a answer for you then. I'm going to switch one diff over to the 6mm outputs and install the extend drive cups and give it a once over. These 6mm outputs from mike are they stronger then the normal traxxas 6mm pins?

Our new diff shafts are hardened and should provide superior strength to the Traxxas diff shafts(which we used to use previously). :)
