tranny flip
 

I was thinking of flipping my tranny around to destribute some of the weight of the motor off of the front and into the back. My front is a little heavy. My tranny is about done for. Makes noice like crazy when I drive. Hopefully its just the idler gears. The tranny is supper dooper loose. With the emaxx on all fours you can spin the spur almost all the way around before it catches in the tranny and pushes the wheels. Is it posible to turn the tranny around. Has anyone here done it? Did it help? What else do I need to do besides just flip the tranny around?

i have done it, if i know what you are talking about. If fits fine, but the only problem with flipping the tranny is that you need to make somesort of custom linkage rod so you can shift from 1st to second gear. Otherwise i like it more because you can further decrease the length of wire from motor to esc (if you run the esc in the back of the truck).

Well mabey I should just use the G2 X-Brace Motor Mount. Wont that serve my purpuse of turning the tranny around with less work? It puts the motor in the back for me right.

Good points by both of you. On trucks without the g2 motor mount, I always turned my tranny around. I never dealt with a custom shifter linkage, though, because I lock the tranny in a single gear and remove the shift servo.
Ryan, the g-maxx motor mount does eliminate the need to turn the tranny around, but the chassis braces must be remove to get the motor mount in between them (which means you have to remove at least half of the screws for the uuper plates and lower plate. If you gou with the g-maxx motor mount, you can also remove the blue motor mount from the stock tranny (requires removal of the spur gear/slipper clutch). The g-maxx motor mount really brings the front/rear weight distribution back into balance (helps a lot to keep the truck from nose diving). Turning the tranny around doesn't really move the weight further bach much, if at all.

do you run the g2 motor mount mike? Because as i recall it is heavier than stock (stock without a gear cover).

I do run the g2 motor mount. It may be a few grams heavier than the stock motor plate, but it is well worth it to have the weight lower and towards the rear.
