Lipo Puffed?
I finally got my emaxx running today after getting the MMM all set up. It was running awsome on its Lenhar motor. I had it running for about 3 minutes tops then it flipped over and idiot me didn't strap the 3s down (3s and 2s in series)and it popped out. I go to put it back in and my luck would have it its squishy. I take it to the work bench for a closer look and its a bit squishy but I am not 100% sure it puffed completely(I've puffed one of these before I knwo what it feels like). The wierd thing is it runs fine. Would I be risking too much to keep running or should I spend my $100 for a new air compressor on a new 3s?
All advice is appreciated. |
I have ran my lipo to a point that they were soft.. they resolidify after a while... are you running zippies?
|
I'm runnig nexxus. They are run by most of the local guys with no problem. It seems harder now i'll give it a shot. I'll let you guys know after the test.
PS: Does anyone know how to reverse the steering throw on a M8/M11? I bumped mine and now its running in reverse. |
on your menu your going to need to go to "rev" then hit the asterisk key until its at steering, then use the Inc/ Dec/ keys to change it.

Well so far so good. The run time on my 5000 MaH cells are about 5 minutes. Is this normal?
|
that seems really short to me, i get 20 minutes out of 5200mah.
|
Not really sure I have it auto LVC. I'm just happy its running right now and my 3s is still alive. I'll keep you guys posted.
Thanks |
Reset the lvc to the correct setting manually. I like 16v for a 5s setup. As long as the pack does get hard after it cools off you should be fine. You may notice that it is more out of balance after a run than it was before. Just make sure it is completely balanced, as that may take longer than the charge...
|
Yea thats what I had it at(remember I asked you where to put it in a PM a while back) but I was having problems so I called CC. After 40 minutes on the phone the guy told me to knock it down to 15v or auto LVC.
|
Ok auto lipo is putting me in lcv wayyyy to early. Like one speed run and done. Is it safe to go to 15v?
|
If your lipos hit the lvc under load you are pushing them too hard. Set your lvc for 3v per cell if you like, but don't blame me if they puff hard...
|
'Fraid not, 15V is a little too low for 5S with modern cells. 16V will cut at 3.2V per cell, which is just right. :) You won't get any more noticeable runtime from a lower cutoff, and you risk damaging the cells.
Edit: Just noticed that Lincpimp got in there before me lol. The man speaks truth!:rules: |
Yea i'll stick with linc. I know the mechanic at my lhs hopefully he'll let me test some lipos and see if thats the problem.
