Pinion gear only available with the 2200kv MMv3?

I got the monster combo today with the 2650 kv and there was no pinion included.I was at my LHS last week and saw an open box 2200 combo that had a green pinion gear included, why is that? I also did not get the cd rom,is that not included also? The opened version I saw had the wires hard wired into the esc unlike mine that has the three plugs that are removable. Do I have an older V3 thus being the reason why I didn't get any of these two things??

The 3 removable plugs are the newest version of the V3. If the one you saw didnt have any plugs then it was a V1. They were the only MMM version that had all 5 wires hard wired. to the board.

The early V3 had all 5 wires attached with plugs.

I've got 4 MMMs, 3 ESCs and 1 combo. I found:

CD: my newest MMM ESC come without the CD, a piece of paper instead, saying to download the latest version of Castle Link on their website.

Pinion: My 2200KV combo has a green 32P pinion in box, but I need mod 1, the include one is just useless to me. I think it could be better if they remove the pinion and make the combo 10 bucks cheaper.

Also, from the 4 MMMs I got 4 USB adaptors, 4 USB cables, and 4 manual books. I am planning to give 3 sets of them to the Savage Flux guys, leave only one set for use.

why are the pinions called mod 1? And why can't I use a regular pinion the same pitch of my spur? Would I find mod 1's at my LHS,or only here in the monster store?

Pinions are getting more common as now Losi , Novak and RRP make them alongside the Monster.

The Mod 1 / Mod 0.8 is a measure of the pitch of the gearing - Different cars use different pitch. Most Buggy/Truggy are Mod 1 - E-Revo/Emaxx are 0.8 (or 32p).

Personally I would get Mike's as they are super hard and prices / service are outstanding.

Oh I agree on mikes service and prices,I got my kyosho motor mount and battery tray yesterday and am extremely pleased with both.I own kyosho so I will need mod 1.My LHS sells RRP so hopefully they have something,I have had great performance from their hardened 1/10 pinions.

i had problems with the included CC pinion. it was made of aluminum and it would not stay set on the 2200 motor shaft. it gave me lots of problems and had to struggle to remove it. i use RCmonster or RR hardened steel pinions which i have no issues with and they have the best mesh

the cc pinions tend to wear over time as the teeth get sharp, then they start to eat spurs alive. rrp all the way. aluminum may look cool but steel is whats needed here

i think mine was actually warped a bit from the factory.
