Looks good! Makes the big 650 body look tiny!!!!

Takedown 04.02.2009 01:00 PM

Lookin good. Any thoughts of converting though?

whipnet 04.02.2009 01:23 PM

Hey thanks guys!! I appreciate it.

If you are talking about converting to brushless, I have no plans for that with this truck. There are other rigs for that. (I have a fast Slash)

With all due respect to the awesome power of electric now, it'll just never be as cool as nitro. Crowds don't draw around electric RC. They want to see the gas burning machines.

I look at electric RC like I look at grilling. Having a gas grill is OK as long as you have charcoal first. With RC, electric is OK as long as you have nitro first. :)

I have been eyeballing those Flux', but after you buy a couple of 3s batteries, you could have gotten a Baja 5B.

Be prepared for some flaming... We all have our opinions and here on rcm its brushless or nothing.... Brushless has a greater power to weight ratio and has monsterous torque. Id take that over a fuel burning, noisy, smelly running truck that leaves nitro all over your nice truck. Brushless is just the way to go. Nitro is being faded out.

magman 04.02.2009 01:30 PM

I converted ALL of my nitro burning trucks to BL because of the performance difference...also, the noise difference is just a bonus!

magman 04.02.2009 01:31 PM

Very nice looking savage by the way...

Welcome to RCM!

Where's the analogy police when you need em?

whipnet 04.02.2009 01:34 PM

Ummm.. OK thanks. It's just my opinion and I am not a BL hater. I own more than one BL rig, the power is incredible. They are just boring in my opinion and not much to them. I prefer a challenge and like more moving parts and tweaking. Again, my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up though. I think arguing about it is rather childish personally....I love GAS too. I love all RC.... but let the flaming begin. :)

(To say nitro is being phased out is ludicrous.. electric survived all those years during the nitro reign, and there will always be people who like to ticker with tiny combustible motors.)

To each his own. I am not really fond of nitro due to the noise. The performance is ok, but nitro does not have the acceleration that a high power brushless setup does. Electric is definately not for noobs, I think something rtr like traxxas' nitro products is better. As long as the instructions are read throughly (assuming that people who buy nitro products can read...) decent performance is attainable. Some people will never be able to grasp electric...

As this is a predominantly electric forum, you may experience some differ points of view... No big deal, like I said, to each his own... I can imagine you have well more than the price of a baja invested in that savvy... And way more than I have in my electric savvy.

Nitro is fun, but only for a bit. The fun vs. frustration factor is often way out of proportion, which is just one of the reasons why I run electric.

Now, I have become very profficient when it comes to nitro tuning/starting/maintaining/etc. due to my employment at a hobby store. It is a PAIN IN THE ASS though, ESPECIALLY HPI engines which for some reason I have the most difficulty with. Although I will admit there is a huge level of satisfaction when I get a non-starting engine running again and tuned well.

But for me, I hate to take the time to "tinker" (it's more like "hoping for the best") with nitro. The payoff simply is not worth it when you can simply charge a battery and KNOW it's going to work, and work VERY well. And besides, if you run nitro to attract crowds, then you have some attention issues . My electric trucks/buggies sometimes will attract crowds simply because of their performance and what I can do with them.

whipnet 04.02.2009 04:40 PM

OK, real classy guys. I know I said bring on the flamage but why the flamage anyway? I've been called too stupid to read and I have attention issues.

I never said I hated electric.

Here's one thing. Nitro guys accept electric. I am a member (and mod) of several nitro forums and if a guy brings up electric, he is always respected because we like electric too.

But you electric guys can never accept any but.

I'll be moving along now. Sorry to bother.

That's a nice Savvy man. On another note, it is very hard to interpret a typed response as sarcasm. If you hang around the forums a bit you'll notice that about 80% of our responses are just that. The people here are very good at what they do, and we all have a sense of humor as well.

Apparently not true (now that is sarcasm, or maybe just pointing out the obvious) ...

I am a sarcastic bastard, BTW. I like making funny statements such as the reading issue (most people who have questions could easily find the answers if they read the instructions), not really because it applies to this thread, just in general.

Hey, if you like nitro that is cool with me! I have run nitro and gas and just prefer electric.

Yes, sarcasm is quite difficult to translate into words sometimes. I attempt to do it with the little face characters but's it's not always so easy. But it wouldn't be much easier to discern my sarcasm when spoken through my mouth because my voice doesn't usually fluctuate anyways

I didn't mean any harm by my comment at all :eyes:
