I thought I got away with it...

Well, my various MMM have been running quite stable for the last 6 months. Most of them are V3 while there is probably 1 V2. Well, I thought all was well but just now, one of the V3 decided to let the magic smoke out in a big way. Have a look at the pics :

I thought the motor was the cause but I'm not sure. The battery was puffed badly though.

I am running :

1) HN X1 CR buggy
2) Neu 1512 2650KV
3) Polyquest 25C lipo 6000mah
4) MMM V3

The setup has been stable for me in the last year and a half with the exception of the MMM. I had a V1 in the beginning. However, for the last half year + since replacing the V1 with a V3, all was well. In fact, I did 2 or 3 races at 20 minutes each plus multiple heats of 5 or 10 minutes in between. Everything worked flawlessly.

I will have to inform CC on this matter

What's the thing located on the position the neg batt wire should be? is it a wire-to-PCB solder adaptor? my V3 has wires directly soldered to PCB without anything else.

It's a blacked-out 6.5mm male plug. The wire must have got de-soldered and janked out of the plug.

Yep, that's right. Not good. CC is kind of busy to answer my email at the moment too

Joe...send it in. If the battery was puffed badly it may have been the cause of the incident. We'll know more when we see the controller. Here's the form you'll need to fill out and include with the controller. http://www.castlecreations.com/support/repairs.html

I thought it's cheaper than the Neu's at less than USD 200 ? It's for mounting motor to chassis so I'm not that keen.

BTW, my HN buggy is back from the near disaster from last week :

Most of of the front end & back end are new. new arms, New housing, new diffs...Center diff also new...

Also changed motor to a Neu 1512 2000kv & battery is now a 5S 5000mah lipo.
