motor hot battery warm
Hey guys, I just took out my backslash converion, within 5 minutes the motor was really hot, I have it on a zippy 3-s 5000mah mamba max and vxl motor geared 15-90 with 1/8 size buggy wheels.
the motor was really hot. I am guessing 180-200 or so within 5 minutes. the battery was warm. not hot by any means just warm and the speed controlles was also just warm. i though having it geared this low would be safe to start testing and not get to hot, where is the heat being generated from? undergeared?? also on the mamba max, does it matter how i connect the three wires to the motor as long as it is turning the wheels forward? and what do I need to set to keep it from slamming in reverse when I am flying and hot the brake. |
Breaks - Unsure that you have the lockout ie 2 second delay in castlelink
Wiring order - Does not matter Hot motor - Implies undergrearing but hot battery implies you are stressing the battery - You could try to gear up but keep an eye on temps VERY close |
Hey Dubs Chops,
Lets not assume you have a problem until you actually measure the motor temperature. Although 180-200* would be bad thing. Correct: The wire polarity only effects rotation direction. |
check for binding in your drivetrain. slamming into reverse at high speed could have messed up a gear or and now, it still runs, but with much more friction.

i touched it and could not leave my finger on it at all without burning me. it was like (touch . ouch snap thats hot!)

90-100*F is hot to the touch still, you really need an IR temp gun with BL motors and escs to get accurate readings. They only cost like $5-10 or so.
