castle 2200kv or MedUsa 2200kv 70mm
whats best
|
Disclaimer: I don't own either of those.
I'm sure the MedUsa motors are great but I'd go with the CC motor because it's designed to be run in cars. This means that it's sealed from debris and the can is designed to be cooler with less airflow than an airplane would provide. Also the CC motor is held together with screws rather than epoxy so you don't have to worry about the motor coming apart. |
I had both motors before. I like the CC better. Infact, I sold the Medusa so I can buy another CC 2200Kv.

Other than the difference of the CC Motor being sealed, can you explain more about why you preferred the CC Motor over the Medusa? Temps, Runtime, and overall power? |
The CC motor is a lot smoother than the Medusa. Here's a breakdown:
Temps - Medusa wins in this are since the can is not sealed allowing for more airflow and better heat dissipation. Runtime - I experienced longer runtime with the CC motor. It seems like they are more efficient. Overall power - The CC motor is more powerful hands down. It flips my truck easier compared to the Medusa. Customer service - There even. Both have great customer service and both companies provide military discounts. |
I would have bought the CCNeu if it had been a smooth can design, but the larger diameter presents issues for me- larger diameter motors strike the old emaxx tranny before my odd-ball spur and pinion sizes can mesh properly.
The CC motor has screwed on endbells and longer flexible wires, where as the Medusa has shorter stiff wires, -not so easily cut to size or bent into posistion, and the rear endbell is only pressed/glued in place. My 80mm 2000kv Medusa works great on 5s lipo though, so it is a more than capable motor for a heavy rig- perfectly smooth for my tastes, but I dont race so subtlety of throttle response isnt a concern, or something I've noticed as being bad as such. Personal setups and experiences do vary though, so all things concidered, there isnt that much of a difference - not like novak vs MMM  I also prefer blue to green, fits in with my colour scheme on the Gmaxx... |
Isn't the CC/Neu more comparable to the Medusa 80mm 2200kV motor in size? Perhaps the Medusa 80mm would fair better in terms of power and efficiency.

medusa motors are not as powerful or efficient in my testing. plus the cog like a beotch, and the threads are terrible on the old ones. might have fixed it tho. but why even bother, why get something else over a neu? esspecially at the same price
