is my spur in the right position for a RCM motor mount?

Hi, I'm about to give up on the top motor position because I cannot find a good enough reason to get a big-ass pinion to reach the spur (58t) so I'm thinking about the RCM motor mount. Looking at where the spur gear is now, does it look like it will work with the mount or will it need to be moved?

A much more simple and cheap option would be to go with a bigger pinion AND spur. Use a 62t or 68t spur. I was able to fit a 68t 32p spur on my nitro revo conversion using the same chassis and transmission with only about 1-2 mm of aluminum taken out of the chassis. A 62t might barely rub the chassis. Then, get a pinion reach the desired gearing. For the MMM possibly 24 or 25 tooth pinion with the 62t spur.

what size batts you running? from the dual trays id say at least 4s per side? and thats why you went with the top motor mount

Is that a modified twin motor mount?

Also what size pinion is that? looks small

I've gotten a tekno neu 1515 1y/f to fit the top mount with 25t down to 22t pinions and I think 65-55t spurs

Lemme tell you that was no easy feat.

took some strategic milling to get it to pivot right on the top to adjust mesh as well

Topspeedtimmy-Yeah, filing or milling 2mm or so off the chassis was also another thought that came to my head. That would clear the spur no prob! But is the MMM 2200kv motor able to handle a 22-25t pinion? I mean, it came with like an 18t pinion so I figured that's where it should stay, maybe the highest going a 22t..
Highkalibre-those battery trays are goofs and I'll be taking them off and make another batch to fit up to 3s per side. You milled the can on the top motor? looks pretty pro! Is that a robinson spur or something?

integy steel spur. I've got a 58,56,55 in mod0.8 was running 55/25 for speed runs a couple times.

yeah milled a couple fins off, they come in smooth can variety so I figured it wouldn't hurt it. took it down almost smooth then finished it off with a nice smooth flat file

Had to slim the tranny a little too. it was hitting the ribs where the two halves of the tranny bolt together and I smoothed those out

Urgeoner - I believe the the CC Neu 2200KV motor can handle 22-25t pinnion. Since traxxas shows ( http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...peed_chart.jpg ) that speed chart starts out at the 18t pinnion your talking about, and tops out at 24t.

Thanks 4 the input nocontrol! But...I think that I will mod the chassis even more to acomodate the bigger spur...but knowing that I'll have some headroom for pinion size is a relief too!
