My G3R....... So Far

Here's where I'm at:

Now to start the transmission:oh:

Looks nice - imo drop the rpm in the front with cvds -its too flexible

Traxxas Addict 04.29.2009 11:45 AM

Hi Arct1k and thanks for the compliment. CVD's are only on the rear. I use the standard driveshafts in the front for that very reason. Next step is the tranny. I have the FLM aluminum half case and GMaxx half transmission plate but still have to source a few more parts for the guts.

I was hoping that the slipperential would work on this baby but from what I've read it's not really desigend for a Revo application. Guess I'm going to have to do the E-Revo Slipper clutch mod that I've seen kicking around on this forum.

Arct1k 04.29.2009 11:59 AM

Mike will be working a way of getting the slipper into the G3R / G3 - It's just going to take some time...

Seeing how I've been building this for about 3-4 months it would seem that time is on my side! :)

And I totally understand why he focused on the 1/8th scale solution first. Have to go where the market is!

Looks nice. Makes me want to strip mine down and polish her up again. Well not really but make me wish it was that shiny again. What the motor esc setup you going to put in it?

Traxxas Addict 04.29.2009 01:46 PM

I had such good success with the MMM 2200 Combo in my E-Revo that I bought another one. Guess I'm going to have to strip the green anodising unless I want it to look like a Christmas Tree. Any warnings I should heed about doing that? Oven cleaner and electronics makes me nervous!

Gee 04.29.2009 01:57 PM

Sorry can't help with the anodising. My one attempt is still sitting that back yard. I run the 1515 1y 2200kv in mine. It's a nice setup for it.

TDC57 did it with his...

If you wrap the front and rear ends of the motor with masking tape and liquid latex, only leaving the green part exposed, then you could eaily use spray on oven cleaner foam- much more gentle than the gell stuff, and it clings to the surfaces so you wouldnt have to submerge the motor in anything either.

Traxxas Addict 04.29.2009 11:58 PM

Thanks Neil. I was thinking of using latex gloves and elastic bands on each end........ of the motor! :)

suicideneil 04.30.2009 12:05 AM

Saucy.

Traxxas Addict 04.30.2009 02:06 PM

Now that I've gone back and taken a look, I think the masking tape/liquid latex route would be more appropriate.
