9920 esc trouble

have not run this esc for 6 months never gave me any problems, i hook up some new batteries with no load hooked up to test and motor gets up half throttle and starts jerking very harsh like not drivable it has never done this before and i tried to different motors hacker c-50/fegaio 10xl

check all your solder connections and bullet plugs

I wouldn't recommend running a motor without a load either. It can be very bad... They will get hot and just don't like it. If you get lucky, the motor will greneade on you too.

Have you had any record temps lately?

i really dont think its the joints, i only soldered new 5mm on the c-50 but still both motors did the same thing, should i try to drive it maybe easy to see what happens, last time i drove it i didnt unload the motor it just drove so maybe it works fine, i will see

thanks guys

did you reflow the joints on the esc side of the connection...

general rule of thumb.. when you need help- dont rule anything out.

well i just tried it with the truck off the ground wheels on it did the same thing it didnt stop the wheels like if you ran out of range but i would say if i had mech brakes and that servo was glitching

try resetting you endpoints on the radio and recalibrating.

thanks guys i see the problem, ummmm yeah i used to run 2x 2s packs and just bought 2x 4s packs running in series still, i was just sitting staring at the speed control and it dawned on me ......8S! shit!

now it works fine

You're lucky it's still running then.

Hooking up 30 volts to an ESC that can barely take 22 volts could damage some components in an instant. Seen it happen before.

Good to hear it's still working fine though

dodged a bullet..
