Looks great Joe! I like the picture step by step conversion video! And that looks like some serious speeds!

Was that on the donated 6s pack? Elite?

Cool build and speed video, Joe! As you likely noticed, the stock mechanical brakes on the IGT and IGT2 fade after about 2 passes with the speed you are seeing. I use the Kyosho STR sintered brake setup on mine - waaaay better (they still get smokin hot after a few aggressive stops, but they will lock up all 4 tires and work 10x as well as the inadequate stock brakes). The IGT was even worse(only had one disc vs. the 2 on the IGT2 - neither setup is anywhere near adequate for the kind of stopping power you need. :)

Now I hope you realize that the 2650 is not supported on 6s and that you'll invalidate your warranty ;)

Very nice Joe. Makes me want to work on my Kyosho Clone conversion.

I am hoping Mike's mount will work on mine as it appears to be an exact clone of the Kyosho. Now if only I could get someone to donate all the parts...........:whistle::na:

Why aren't motor brakes used in the app instead of mechanical?

The two speed setup has a OWB on first gear making reverse and motor braking impossible (actually, very difficult would be the better phrase).

Elite...yep. 5300 30C 6s...they don't have them any more...why I want to see if they'll let me borrow some of their new 5000 35Cs. :)

Do you know if the ST-RR uses the same sintered pads??? We used the pads from one of the sets we had left over from all the RCX conversions. LMK! The stock ones were SMOKING HARD after the 2nd aggressive stop...had to try some more...then had NOTHING!!! :surprised:

Go for it man! Something to "complete the fleet" if you don't have anything smokin fast yet. As for the parts donation, I put a lot of hours in for those "donated" parts. ;)

It's a 1 way...no way to use the center diff to brake too. :( There are ways but it's just way too difficult and I would suspect prone to problems...don't need the brakes coming on full bore at 140 unexpectedly or not working at all. Reliability is what I'm after.

I suspect the STRR brakes are the same(or at least as good) as the STR brakes. Either setup will be a ton better than the crappy stock setup. They will still get hot after a few passes of course(lots of friction needed to slow down a 9 pound missile), but they won't fade away after 2 or 3 stops like the stockers. :)

Understood! Just didnt think of that at the moment... Same reason I had to run mech brakes on my revo conversion until I locked the tranny in 2nd...

Looks great! You could try modding it to have brakes on the front and rear center shaft like the offroad 1/8th scalers with an actual CD and run 4 total brakes, that would spread out the braking load and should give you a few extra runs before you smoke the brakes.

Nah, sorry man. Haven't had time. I will try soon without the body. In the meantime we're trying to develop a new body to help keep her to the ground and minimize drag.

Joe, there was a guy here in Houston that posted in the brushless forum that was doing the same thing as you. I believe the vehicle was an Ofna though. He had a Viper body with the rear wheel wells left uncut and some other additions to the body to add down force and keep it stabilized. I will try to find it or maybe someone else will beat me to it and post up a link. Just thought it might be useful to you.
