Summit battery box question
Are the summit battery boxes waterproof?
I would say no. I have never heard a no or a yes. But all of the other Traxxas waterproof vehicles do not have waterproof boxes. i would assume for heat... just a guess.
Should be... since they advertise the truck as so.
Right, but... the nimh batteries most people use are waterproof.
the trays have vents in them... how can they be waterproof?
The summit battery boxes are the same as an E-Revo, they have vents on top, drain holes on the bottom and the doors are anything but watertight
That sucks. Does anyone make waterproof lipos except for maxamps?
I always thought all cells were waterproof, and it was the bars that would corrode?
Sorry Ian. don't know of any others unless you want to go back to nimh. :whip: Maxamps even advertises that they are the only ones on the market. "The only all whether packs on the market" |

I was assuming he was looking for a new tray for his truggy. He did break his RCM tray. Just guessing, haven't talked to him about it outside of the forums. But i really don't have any huge problems with Nimh. Ran them for a while in my Rustler and full time in the 18. Power to weight ratio sucks, but i guess for crawling they would do ok.

If you hot glue the cell tabs on a Lipo pack to prevent corrosion, then they are waterproof. NiMh cells are sealed but I wouldn't call them waterproof; they can and will corrode.

Hey guys, lipos are easy to waterproof. Its this great product called plasti-dip. You may have had your hands on it and did not even know. It is the coating on plier handles, and other rubber handles. You can dip just about anything in it(not your feank and beans), and layer it up to make it thick. I have done this with a few lipos. If you leave the shrink on you can easily remove the plasti-dip if you need to service the wiring, etc.
If maxamps can do something, it has to be easy and cheap! Slayden does not pay himself! |
I heard about plastidip, but I was skeptical not knowing what it would do to electronic components. Good to know it'll work.
Plastidip is purpose designed for dipping pcbs into to make them waterproof (as Castel does with the MMM); its inert rubbery plastic after all...
