Adding a volume control to a DVD player (potentiometer)
I have an amp I found for free and an old dvd player. I want to use the dvd player as a cd player, but I still need to control the volume. I also found a Casette player for free, and I took the volume control off that. It's a potentiometer. It has 7 pins. Is there a way I can wire the potentiometer up to the DVD player to control the output volume?
It's the bottom left one on this picture http://www.global-b2b-network.com/di...entiometer.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7301790.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7301801.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7301800.jpg |
may sound silly but why not just use the volume control on the amp

Yeah, I'd just use the amp's vol control. Not only is it easier, you don't have to worry about loading or induced noise.
Whatever you get/use, make sure it is an audio-taper pot. Regular pots are linear. Audio is logrithmic. This one works pretty well and is stereo: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062298 |
Amp has no volume control. Any Idea how I'd wire the pot? I was thinking of somehow tapping into the output to adjust the level...
