Getting intimate with the Feigao 580L (and MetalMan's hands)
Nobody here seems to have purchased one of these, I've only seen speculation
So I bought one because my XLB killed the KB-45 10XL that was in there (shredded the windings, the rotor was still intact). The Feigao 580L I ordered is the 12L, with a kv of 1051. Now for the good stuff! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8240.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8243.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8244.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8247.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8250.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8260.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...L/IMG_8261.jpg Looks like it has a 8mm shaft where the rotor mounts, which is turned down to 6mm for the bearings (beefy bearings!), and then the output shaft is 5mm with a nice flat spot. The windings on this motor seem to be a lot neater than on the Feigao 540 motors, which is nice. Also, it's hard to see in the pics but there is a steel cylinder between the windings and the can. This steel ring is what's causing the rotor to stick to my fingers in the second to last pic, that's pure magnetic strength! I was a bit disappointed with the lack of 30mm spacing and 4mm thread mounting holes, so I made an adapter plate to do this. If the endbell on the motor weren't so retarded I would have put the bolt pattern on that instead. |
my biggest concern about that motor is the smaller screws and narrower spacing (compared to KB motors) and that might lead to broken screws and stripped threads.

Nice man hands there!! :great:
The motor is standard with 3mm mounting screws and you wanted 4mm? or vice versa? |

*sigh*
I like how BOTH endbells are screw-captured. |
I am also shocked linc left this thread w/out adding his normal " humor "

So far I have gotten this motor past 200 deg. F... in my XLB on 10s 3700mah. Not sure if it was undergeared or overgeared at 12/65 (center diff) and standard buggy diffs, with MT (6") tires. It seemed more like 45mph than the calculated 38mph. Will have to throw the EagleTree on there next time, and play around with the ESC (HV-110) parameters.

hmm, 1051 kv? I really need a 1050. I think that extra 1 rev might draw too many amps for my setup. Are they "dyno-ing" each one to get that number or is that how they all the 12L's are rated? Just seemed funny to me.
|
All the 12Ls are rated at 1051, this is just the general number they came up with.

Humor needed?, My god Metalman, those r sexy hands, have u thought about being a hand model or getting into hand porn?

By the looks they definitely made improvements over the 540 series. Where did you purchase this one?
