CRT.5 vs Mini ST-e vs Mini Revo
 

by the end of the summer I am hoping to add one of these to my fleet, Any firsthand experiences with them? pros? cons? It'll start out as something just for fun, and will then eventually make its way to the track. I plan to get a new or used roller, then find a decent motor and MM to put in it, along with the biggest lipo I can fit. Any help on deciding?

If you go the CRT.5 or Hyper STe route then get a Medusa 36-50 3300kv for 3S. I'm kinda in the same dilemma as you but it's between the Hyper STe and the CRT.5...

Just keep in mind that the Mini CRT and Mini Hyper are 1/12 scale and can easily be made into 1/10 scale via commonly available parts (they are already about the size of most 1/10 4wd buggies), but the Mini Revo is 1/16 scale, which is much smaller, and can not be made into 1/10 scale...well, you could, but it would be very impractical and very expensive, requiring a lot of custom parts...and it would not hold up to the power of anything larger than a brushless 28mm or 370-size motor.

I'm not sure the mini e-revo will be that fragile, here is a quote from Tim Roberts on the mini E revo from revo racers

I currently have a CRT.5 with my own chassis (actually it's the chassis that Mike's chassis are based off of), so basically you could say I have a V1.

Anyway, I really like the little CRT. It handles great, is very durable, and is quite a blast to drive. I like how it isn't so small that everything upsets it, but rather I've driven it on 1/8 scale tracks and it took the rough sections fine.

I have one of the 1/16 Revo's on order, and from what I heard, they are just a shrunken full size E-Revo. If there is any truth to that statement, they should be durable and handle quite well.

I don't think you could go wrong with either, so I would choose based on what you already have in your stable.

Since you already have a Hyper 7 and Rustler, you have two vehicles pretty similar to the CRT.5, so I would say get the 1/16 Revo. This way, you'll also have a wet-weather capable vehicle.

is the 1/16 revo fully waterproof even the brushless system? and do you reckon it can take 4s lipo (the esc and motor i mean)

Traxxas claims they are water proof. I wouldn't run it on 4s, the ESC may handle it but not reliably. The motor is made by Feigao, so 60,000 RPM is a very bad idea. Keep it to 3s or get a different power system.

There are bound to be bugs with the e-revo. Weather it is diffs or servos I'm sure something will come up. I'd get one of the truggies if you don't want to deal with that. I've got a crt .5 and I'm more then happy with it.

idk about the waterproofness, but I never planned to use the vxl system either. I was just planning on a MM and separate motor. does anybody out there have the mini STe? havent heard much about that. It looks similar to the crt.5, but has a longer wheelbase than the jammin extended chassis

Since the CRT.5 is made by Jammin, and the Mini HyperST & STe is made by Ofna, and Ofna owns Jammin, I wonder if they are similar platforms? Anyone know anything about that?

just looking at them on towerhobbies, they do look kinda similar, and from reading other forums the only found differences was the longer wheelbase on the mini STe and a different wing.

Is the STe's chassis any longer than Mike's CRT.5 chassis? if not, or if it is the same length, then Mike's RCM CRT.5 chassis and wide-track conversions should work very well on the STe!

CRT is made by Hong Nor, Hyper ST is made by Hobao. Different companies, but both are badged as Ofna in some parts of the world. The ones I have seen for sale in Australia are sold as Hong Nor and Hobao, not Ofna, so I doubt that they are designed to be very similar.
