Mamba-25 turned Pro...

I noticed a little problem with my Mamba 25 so I had to do some soldering. While I was at it I decided I would move the blue cap and make the overall size of the ESC a little bit smaller so I could fit it next to my Servo on my RC18T FT.

PS:
If anyone has the ability to solder the signal wires to where they could be coming out of the top vs. the bottom I would be willing to pay for you to solder it. I would try it but it was hard enough for me to bypass the switch.

PM What's_nitro?. He's good at soldering. Also pm lincpimp.

nice job. I run a mamba 25 and it barely gets warm so I wouldn't benefit from a heat sink but I hated not being able to put it behind the servo on my rc18t

Thanks, I'll pm them.

And if anyone wants to offer to solder I would pay extra if you would resolder every wire because I'm going to cover it in heatshrink and I want to make sure nothing will come loose.

Here are some more detailed pictures of the signal wires and what would have to be resoldered.

CC charges like $15 for wire replacement. Why not contact them and ask if they could do it for you

Frozen72 05.16.2009 07:29 PM

Someone on another forum offered to do it for free. I just have to pay shipping there and back. I think that would be cheapest way to go. Any idea on what to cover the board with once I'm done with everything. I'm going to use some Thermal Paste for the heatsink but I don't know if I should use liquid electrical tape or some heatshrink like it is normally.

BL_RV0 05.16.2009 07:31 PM

PlastiDip it.

Frozen72 05.16.2009 07:39 PM

I think that is the best option. That would make it waterproof right if I had it 100% covered?

BL_RV0 05.16.2009 07:41 PM

Theoretically yes, but in reality, maybe not.

Frozen72 05.16.2009 07:46 PM

OK I wouldn't drive it in the rain but it would be nice to know if some freak accident happened and the electronics got wet there would be high chance that my ESC would live. I'm going to check Wal-Mart tomorrow for some clear liquid tape.

Did you use thremal grease on the fets and the heatsink? Make sure you did. It makes a world of difference...

Frozen72 05.16.2009 11:36 PM

That is just a mock-up of what it's going to look like once I'm finished. I hope the Thermal paste and pasti-dip will be enough to hold the heatsink on...

i dont know if it is still going to be waterproof after you soldered to the board but it was waterproof before that heres a vid. http://www.rcbros.com/reviews/cc/Mreview.wmv
