BKWanderer XL against Feigao XL

I did abit of research today into the BK xl motors and Feigao xl motors.

Alot of people said they are the same and so on but found that the KV rating was different by around 200-300kv a volt.

Taking the 7xl as an example:
Wanderer = 2145kv
Feigao = 2382kv

So the Feigao appears to be the better motor but again wondering how much difference it would make, I did an example on 16 cells: (assuming all the cells were of top 1.2v).

2145 x 19.2 = 41184
2382 x 19.2 = 45734

So it has a large difference, I'm guessing nearly a whole cell power difference? Not sure how KV ratings worked and I hoped those calculations are correct.

Why have RCM stopped Feigao XL motors?

Anyway, I hope my research is correct, was intresting to read about, hope someone can tell me abit more about KV ratings, thanks. :)

it had something to do w/feigao's quality of bearings or somthin

Nick 01.20.2006 07:31 PM

It was said the Wanderer has better bearings that do upto 100kRPM?

But if they place better bearings in, why lower the KV.

The Feigao's kv is not measured under load and the wanderers are.That's the reason for the Kv difference.They are the same other than the bearings and the colour.

Also the wanderers have the female 5.5mm plugs already soldered on.

Yep gustav has it. The load difference of the motors. So you have to figure that into the feigaos.

Nick 01.20.2006 07:38 PM

Can you define the "load" for me?

squeeforever 01.20.2006 07:41 PM

the "load" would be exactly that, with a load. such as, in the truck would be with a load or out of the truck would be no load.

Gustav 01.20.2006 07:42 PM

eer,yeah ,that the motor has a resistive mechanical force acting against like when it is in the vehicle.Like how a higher gearing or a heavier vehicle is a higher load.

Also brushless motors don't like running unloaded,so they get hot when your gearing is too low.That's why i think it is possible to have a too big motor for a certain vehicle,not enough load to keep it cool/efficient/happy.

I was told at BK they test the motors with a big propeller as load.
