truggy diff fluid

I have a kyosho st-rr and Mike is making a chassis kit for me right now. I am going to use 2200 mmm combo on five cell maybe going to a 6 cell.

My question is what diff fluid would i use. I am thinking 15 20 5 front middle rear

I am mainly a basher. Keep that in mind. If i go to 6 cell I also dont want all the power spooling to the front wheels. What would you suggest for fluid. I also want to be able to wheelie.

I'm running a MBX5T as a basher with 30k in the middle diff and it's still too loose. The front end unloads easily and it's hard to get enough kick off of jumps to get a full backflip in before landing. The traction is especially bad on really loose dirt/dust.

I just ordered some 60k and 100k to try out. I'm thinking 100k in the center should really help out, and I'll probably go 30k in the front and 10k in the rear.

in my rc8t i run 10k front 30k center 7k rear...its perfect for me :)

ya i am afraid that all the power will unload to the front. Maybe i should try higher then 20 in the middle then. 15. 30. 10 or maybe 15, 50, 10

I have in my house 10, 30, and 50 wk oil. maybe ill do 50 in the center ten in the rear and mix 10 and 30 for the front.

I'm using 120K in the center diff and unloading to the front almost never happens.

George16 05.22.2009 06:43 AM

I'm using 10, 30, and 5K F-C-R on my ST RR running on 5S.

d-fly 05.22.2009 07:09 AM

do you have any unloading in the front on the st-rr? How bad would the 50k affect my racing if i put it on a track?

auto2 05.24.2009 01:46 PM

going way up in the center diff would make the truggy not pivot as you tried to turn. kinda like a dump truck. if you bash just put in the thickest fluid you have. then buy another diff on ebay and set it up for racing. best of both worlds.

d-fly 05.24.2009 05:40 PM

if you are racing why would you want all the power to unload to the front too? i Mean i know so so it dosent wheelie but i cant belive all of it. Was is a good number that i can bash with / wheelie but still be able to race.

Not sure if this will help or not but I like to refer to this whenever I have to focus on my diffs.

that helps. I wish i would know how a brushless motor effect a diff because of the instant power though.

awesoming, that much in the center! wow, i have a kyosho electric st-r, with 5-7-2k and i am can do wheelies off the line pretty easy. how do you prevent wheelies with such a heavy oil?

i ran 2650kv mamba Creation combo, 16t pinion, 44 spur, 4s 4000mah, weight 9.4lbs

d-fly 05.25.2009 09:31 AM

he is running a motor with alot more torque.

Aceldama 05.27.2009 02:11 PM

So after putting 100k in the center I gave it a quick test run on and offroad today.

It still only wheelies if you punch it from a nearly dead stop on tarmac. It's much more fun on loose traction surfaces now, and it gets moving a lot faster. I'll probably put thicker fluid in the rear diff as well because it seems to be completely open right now, I might try 7k in the rear.
