How should i mount my battery?
Here are some pics. It was a 5s 5,000mah pack for my e-maxx but it had a bad cell so I got the cell removed and the pack re-wired to be a 10,000mah 7.4v batt for my rustler. Here is how it fits right now:

I'm thinking that it'd be best to take my e-maxx's old gorilla straps and run then diagonally across the battery. Would there be a better way to do it? p.s. i know my car is messy as heck with all the wires |
This isn't a Rustler, but a Slash is similar to a Rustler more or less. Here's how I mount my 4s pack: http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversions/_slash.html

that mite work. what did you use for the straps?

i had a setup quite similar to yours. it was a 3s flightmax pack stood vertically in my rustler tray. I used a strip of 1 inch wide sheet metal bent into the shape of the pack, and put on those 2 posts at the front. Now i went to lowes, spent like 7 bucks and got 10 feet of velcro. I just drilled a 1/8th inch hole in the chassis and velcro. then put a washer on the velcro side, and used a m3 nut and bolt to hold it all in, alot like Brian's. Either solution works fine. I just prefer the velcro because i always lose body clips. The velcro comes just like this -> http://www.rcplanet.com/ProductDetai...30-247&click=3
Just in a roll, with no adhesive on the other side. This way you can cut right to length. With an inch of overlap, itll never come out |
that's cool, i mite try that to make my car a little neater lol this is how i have it right now:

It has the hooks on one side and the "fuzz" on the other. I just countersink some 3mm screws from the inside of the tray, drill a hole through the velcro, singe the hole edge with a lighter to keep from possibly fraying, and then stick that over the screw along with a washer (to spread out the clamping force) and a lock nut. Pretty simple and works well; I've used that in almost all my setups. If that won't work, I'm sure it's nothing that a little imagination can't overcome. |

I think you'll be happy with that. Even when the velcro gets dirty or worn, it's cheap and easy to replace. Actually, in a few on my setups where I'm using Mike's trays, I'm not using the included straps in favor of this setup; I find it easier to install the batteries because I'm not fiddling with trying to get the strap end into the little plastic loop thingie (yes, that's the technical term ).
