Just got done with the first run on the LST2. Wow, I should have done this so much sooner.

First, the motor mount I ordered from The Dude is fantastic. Any retard with 1 for an IQ could put this thing on and set the gear mesh. I guess that explains why linc could do it!!!

As usual the part fit and finish is great.

Second, this dang truck is stout. It just feels more sturdy when driving it. I will say the thing also handles and jumps better than the revo. The only thing aftermarket in the suspension area is Integy shocks which I haven't decided if they are staying or not.

The gearing is not where I want it, 22/63 right now but I am getting the 66 spur and a 20t pinion when Mike gets them back in stock so I can tame it down a little. Should be sitting right at 50 mph on the CC 2200 kv motor.

BTW, setup is CC 2200, MMM, 6s Flightpower.

Using The Dude colleted pinion adapter, single speed spur adapter, and motor mount.

Tires are big joes on dish wheels. These balloon much less than my dirthawgs.

All in all I am very happy with this truck. The revo recently has been irritating me left and right over the past month so the LST2's timing was perfect. In the past several weeks I have broken two JD Carbon pushrods, 3 JD Carbon tie rods, and 1 stock tie rod. I also had all the front pivot balls pop out (problem fixed with platinum knuckles). The worst problem is that I haven't been driving it that hard. It is on the shelf now and won't be fixed until I stop being mad at it.

Hopefully the LST2 keeps on truckin!

I've been thinking of selling the Revo and getting a LST2. Linc brags on it too much and I've seen nothing but good! I will definitely have to try one soon!

I have to second that on "The Dudes" motor mount, that thing is genius. And high quality. I had purchased (before discovering Mike and the Monster) a RTR from Fine Design after reading the RCCA article and was sooooo disappointed. I ran the truck twice and blew through 2 sets of spur gears as I couldn't get the mesh right and I disassembled the truck. Luckily right before selling the roller I checked out the LST forums, Linc's project and found The Dude and his mount. If you are thinking about doing an LST, Aftershock, Baja ect... I say go for it, the truck is awesome.

I have a feeling that ultimately the revo is a better track vehicle - if the track is well groomed. However the lst2 just blows it away for durability, and rough surface handling. Plus it is bigger, and just better made. It can handle big heavy tires, and big brushless power bone stock.

I can only think of 1 better vehicle for mixed bashing and racing and that would be the muggy, however it is a truggy and thus would not be allowed to compete in some MT classes.

There are only 2 upgrades that need to be done to the lst2. Al front knuckles from new era, and rpm arms. I have not broken an arm, but I did break a knuckle where the steering tierod attaches. The dual serco steering does bother me a bit, but there are some cheap fixes to keep it working at peak performance. Eyeball lstforums, tons of info there to make the lst bulletproof.

Plus the dude's stuff is top notch. A bit pricey, but you get very well made and engineered parts, and the market for them is not huge, so you do have to pay a bit for that factor. He is also a great guy, and is more than willing to give as much time is needed to help you out. The hobby needs more people like him and Mike, and Steven over at OSE.

i have a questions , did the colleted pinion adapter hold on to the cc motor shaft with no issues ? i am asking because i thought the flat on the shaft will cause a slight problem with a collet design.

When are we going to get a LST area on the monster here?
I'm working on building my second brushless one and have some questions ideas.
I cant seem to find a good single servo conversion thread. I've been on lstforum.com with no luck. I have done one to my current lst2, but I'm not sure I'm getting the most out of it yet.

Yes, it works fine with the flat spot. Since the adapter grabs around the whole shaft the flat spot doesn't affect it. It's one of those genius in simplicity designs that you wonder why no one had done it before.

Like you said linc, the front knuckle is toast, and was that way when I got it. Twztd had told me about it and he had taped it with duct tape. I ran it with the duct tape on it and it worked okay. I will have to get the AL knuckles quick though.

doo540, that's a nice LST2 you have there! How are you liking the RC Raven springs and the swaybars? I had ravens on my orginal e-maxx 5 years ago and they were a big improvement over stock.

The integy shocks look cool and all, and they are nice, but with the reservoir on it they are just too big for my taste. It seems I can pick up some stock LST2 AL shocks cheap so I think I will convert them back to stock. I am sure someone will want the Integy ones. The do work well though, it's just the look I am not digging.

I will agree with linc that on a nice clean track the revo probably has the upper hand as it can be fined tuned a lot more. However for bashing and really rough stuff the LST2 has it hands down. Like I said, just driving the truck you can feel how much stronger it is.

One side of me is tempted to get rid if the revo but in reality I know it won't happen. It's still a great truck, I am just irritated with it at the moment. One good thing is that now I feel more free to try some different things with the revo since it's not my only monster. I had plans for it but when I sold my e-maxx I held off.

Oh yeah, and BTW linc, that kydex is some nice stuff. Twztd had already made a battery tray with it which fit mine perfectly. The kydex is so strong but still flexible. The batteries are nice and snug inside.

Kydex is great stuff, I have made a dozen or so trays out of it and it has not let me down yet!.

I have the new era knuckles for the lst2 but I have not had a chance to put them on yet. I have just acquired another lst1 (I have 4 lsts now!) and plan to make a basher out of it while I perfect the single servo muggy steering setup for the other lst... Plus I pan to stretch the chassis on one of the trucks as well, but that may be on the back burner now.

My truck came with those integy shocks, i tossed them and got a set of the lst2 shocks, everyone on lstforum says they are the best. With the sway bars and the muggy tires, I can corner pretty fast on the pavement, in other words the truck stays planted no matter how hard I throw it around. I also have my truck in the lowest ride height position. I broke my first knuckle this weekend, I hate adding aluminum parts, I will give the stockers one more chance and then onto aluminum. I did sell my e-revo and now I'm looking at having 2 lst's in the house. I know my lst handles better then my savage xl (bl) at high speed. So its on its way out also.
