Looking to get a new truggy.
 

I have realized that my 6 year old Cen matrix is falling apart around my Castle 2200 system(thanks castle :)) The Truck just cant hang with the likes of 8ights, mugens etc as well as I would like- Not as durable either. So now im on the market for a new truggy.. So far I have brought the list down to the hot bodies d8T and the associated rc8TE

Does anyone have any input on these trucks?

The 2 LHS owners at my track run both the D8T and RC8Te and I have to say, they are close in performance, handling, flying, and jumping. I know them personnally and both guys give raving reviews about driving both trucks. I think the issue between these 2 truggies becomes personnel preference and availability of parts. But also keep in mind that the RC8Te should be a better balance truck coming off the assembly line ready for electric where you'll have to convert the D8T(for now).

IMO D8T would be better. The RC8Te is based on the RTR version of the RC8T, so the parts are not "pro" as the D8T's are. I really like the D8T, if a big deal I'm waiting on falls thru, I'm going to pick one up. :smile:

I plan on running the same style setup on the new truck that i run in the matrix.. Probably end up with a vertical motor mount, and dual battery trays placed forward- just behing the d8T steering servo...

Havent really heard anything about the d8- its still new to the market.

From what I've heard the AE Conversion aren't that good. I would get the D8T and convert it or wait and see if they make a flux edition.

MBX5T rollers are going for real cheap these days.

for bashing get MBX5-T for racing any of the new trucks like D8T, mBX6-T or 8ight-T 2.0

Well, the D8 buggy is awesome, and since almost all the parts are the same as the D8T, they should handle similarly. I'll be picking one up some time hopefully as well.

My biased opinion is to get a RC8T and Mike's full chassis conversion. I absolutely love mine. It handles very well, flies like a champ, and is very well balanced. I only bashed mine for some shakedown runs as my track is an hour away. At the track the nitro guys are very impressed with the handling and ability of my truggy, and they see me getting better each time I'm on the track too.

I really want a RC8T. If I can't get a FT version I'll get the RTR and upgrade from there. I almost bought a FT version with a P5 and Spektrum but I can't justify not buying a mountain bike first since it's my new passion. I actually thought of selling my Monster GT just to be able to afford both, haha!

Either truck will make you happy. Go with whatever one you lean towards more.

I second that. I just got my Mugen MBX5-T and its awesome, haven't gotten the chance to run it yet but it screams "dual purpose truggy" (As in it's perfect for racing AND bashing)

And Ben, you know the killer deal I got on mine, I think you should really look into getting one.

i Want a newer truck- something a bit lighter as it will be my race truck.

you cant beat the FT rc8t and mikes kit, see you sell the stock chassis and trays and all the nitro stuff for 100-125 dollars and your basically getting mikes kit included with the FT truck and its completely worth the little extra initial cost....

these trucks are as TOUGH as the toughest truck out there yet are SOOO easy to setup and drive.... skip the rtr and get the rc8t and by the time you got a D8 and got it converted youll have close to the money of the FTrc8t and the associated with mikes chassis is the nicest setup youll see, find, or drive.......
