E-revo 6.5 novak

My e-revo right now has a 6.5 hv novak powered buy 16.8 volt nimh i was wondering if anybody happens to now what my approx speed should be.I would like to go with lipos and a mmm combo or mmm nue but my yard cant handle much more speed then im already getting but i would like more torque. Its geared right now 68/13.

use Brian G's speed calc...
http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html

If by when you say you want more torque you mean you want more punch when you pull the trigger then lipos would be a good option (you can pull more amps with Lipos).
In order to figure out top speed you would need to know the tire size and the KV of the motor. I know Novak rates their motors unloaded so it effects the number the speed calc spits out a bit.
Last year I calculated my novak powered buggy should go around 46mph using the calc, I time trial it (100ft straight line) and it clocked around 44mph... so it is pretty close.

An MMM would (possible) give you more reliablity (it seems with an MMM if it is going to fail, it should fail soon, where as Novak's are more sensitive and could go at any time if you push it to hard).
Check out the speed calc, go from there. Lipos would probably be the next (logical) step for you.

lvc novak 6.5

When running lipo's do you have to run both batteries on the bec side ecs .

no, but the bec side will draw the battery down sooner, so swap which battery goes to which side every other run. Also put your lvc on the bec side

I have two HV Pro 6.5 systems, one in my E and one in my wifes E. They are very reliable and take alot of abuse. Personally i think that the MMM and the Novak run pretty close to each other in torque and speed with 4s LiPo. Yes I have two MMM one for me and one for my wife in our new ERBE's. Mine failed after 20 minutes and been running my E ever since. I run it against nitro's and ERBE's on our small neighborhood track. I still hold the fastest lap and best points with my good old faithful and dependable Emaxx/Novak. Course keep in mind it is a small track and the ERBE's cant really let loose with 6s. But I still love my Novak powered Emaxx.
Switch to Lipo batteries and get good ones, and youll be amazed at the difference. DO NOT run a MMM system on NiMh you will damage the batteries or the ESC or both.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your Novak set-up.

Hello again can these critters be run in parallel like 2 4s packs.

Garcol 06.17.2009 09:16 PM

I dont see why not. Just be sure your voltage is correct going into the ESC and of course be sure you have some type of low voltage control.

Any set-up or application questions can always be directed to tech@teamnovak.com

If you plan to use the internal bec you must run a pair of 2s packs, as the bec will over heat on more than that.

Garcol 06.18.2009 05:29 PM

Ok, well my advice wasnt really very good.
I "think" you can jumper the non BEC side and be able to run your 4s's in parallel. But you really need to check with Novak to be sure.
Sorry about that!.

No problem with that all info is good.
