How are the Rx8 & T8's holding up?

Howdy everyone,

Just researching what ESC/Motor combo to put in my 8ight-t conversion. How are the Rx8's/T8's holding up & what combo of lipo and motor Kv are you running?

cheers

They are brand new...so.....I would give it some more time before asking again. Trust me, if someone has a prob., it will be posted!

In my Revo conversion, I am using the 1550kv motor w/6s ( 2 3s in series )

so far so good

They seem to be holding up well so far. I hope the trend continues, as I have decided to buy one of the combos for my GTP. The *instant* sensored startup is what got me, since I'll be pretty much drag-racing with this car.

there holding up good...

a few miner detals need to be worked out with the rotor(magnet slides off the shaft) but tekin is replacing them free if you have a problem, and from what I'v heard its allready fixed...

Been running mine in the Sacramento 97+ heat (1700kv combo on 5s rc8t 17/46)...back to back runs...motor stayed at 175 rx8's fan stopped working ( got up to 4-5 LEDS)....and it performed flawlessly...and guess what? I ran another pack through it!!! But the run only lasted 10min..I broke and rear hub carrier:p...temps stayed the same:)

Sounds great! Is this with the new improved rotor attachment? I could guess, but what caused the fan to stop?

hootie7159 06.17.2009 02:57 AM

actually had to gear down b/c 45+ mph was a little too fast...i've been running mine 16/46 for the past two weeks...well...today i ran about 2 packs through and then took the mandatory 10 min break (not running a fan due to it breaking down due to the running conditions and the rx8 only flashed 3 leds anyways)....after chassis slapping the ground after a double the rx8 stopped and only the steering worked....hotwire/new lipos/another motor wouldn't work..just dead..no burnt smell or anything....called tekin and they are aware of certain problems and their CS is awesome..so far..sent it in to get checked and will update soon....motor was fine but sent it in with the esc anyways to get the update.. :)

damn hootie, woulda been nice to have that MMM as a backup huh?

hootie7159 06.17.2009 03:30 AM

on the contrary my dear watson... ...I DO have a MMM V3 as a backup ...(thank goodness)...and since i sent the motor in as well I have a CC neu 2200KV as a backup as well...but I spoke to a tekinrepresentative on the phone to get an RS (or RA# whatever it is) and he said that they are having a 1 out of 10 rotor/esc problem but they have indentified the problem components and will fix my rx8 combo ASAP...just to clarify, they were updating my motors rotor shaft but fixing the esc component :)...the motor was running flawlessly...cool as a cucumber....and the highest the esc ever blinked was 4 LEDS....and this was without a fan....20min back to back runs...geared 16/46...at a big track....in the sacramento summer heat...soooooooo i'm pretty happy with THIS setup :) the MMM worked just fine and if i get a "BASHER" type vehicle again i will put the MMM combo in it but IMHO i prefer the rx8.....that is...until castle comes out with their 1800kv motor....hurry up castle!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 T8 rotors separated so far.
Few very soon, one after 2 weeks. One so far is holding after 45minutes of racing.
Locite 648 works like a charm as temporary fix and Tekin is sending new rotors - thats what they said

RX8 needs more aggressive throttle profile set for racing along with some EXP on radio help, but so far very nice ESC and no need for the fan.

mk351e 06.17.2009 10:54 PM

my motor problem happened within the first 2 minutes of use. They are very concerned, and have the fix done, not that big a deal. Something was also wrong with the esc as well, but their tech support kicks ass! THESE people have it together! Anywho, it really doesn't seem like they're having many problems, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at all, and I do believe that my repaired setup should last a long time. FWIW I've been through like 6 MMM's!! Surely I'll use fewer RX8's!

Well 4teking motors were on race on saturday, 3 of them are already gone. We are waiting for rotor now, glueing it needs some practice (we are getting plenty of it).

since not living in states, it's not a minor problem, you have to wait quite long and racing season is on... I pulled mine yesterday, just checking who to write to... saturday race (which was actually going to be first electric race in Slovakia ever) is over for me... well. Hopefully next wave will be ok

apart from that - running great, running extremely smooth and on 2000KV geared for 60kmh in my truggy had just right temperature compared to Novak I used earlier

nougat 06.19.2009 03:00 PM

The rotor on my Tekin truggy 2000kv motor came loose in the first minute. I got a replacement that lasted only two packs before coming loose again. The next replacement was a redesigned rotor that has been working great for over 10 packs. It looks like they changed the rotor and fixed the problem.

BrushlessRacer 06.26.2009 05:02 PM

I drove about 10 packs with my tekin combo and the only thing that broke was the Fan. My Rotor can move 2mm in horizontal, is this a problem?

I'm running a 2250kv
