12s ESC's for cars?
Got this crazy idea, i'm building up my 6S lipo trays (well they are finished).
I think my 2200kv Medusa is a bit too much with 6S, so id need new motor anyway. So why not making it 12S, as im using two 2650mah 30C 6S packs in parrell, so id need to make just new adapter for batterys and im ready to go 12S. So what are ESC's that could handle it, it wont draw much current thought, but id like to have brakes and also reverse and not to use mechanical brakes. |

Thats little expensive...
Does anyone have experience with Turnigy K-Force esc's? Does those have brake and reverse? |
No, they don't. Airplane ESCs don't have proportional brakes or reverse. There are very few car ESCs that can support 12s lipo, due to the cost to make them and the limited number of people willing to pay the high price for them.
By far the least expensive way to go is mechanical brakes and no reverse. The HV-110 is quite possibly one of the smoothest airplane ESCs out there, it runs the Medusa 36-80-1100 on 10s 3700mah Lipo in my 1/7 buggy VERY smooth, almost as smooth as the MMM in other cars of mine. The mechanical brakes are nice too because I can set the rear bias to swing the rear end. |
How about marine esc's turning those to air cooled esc's?
|
I don't think marine ESC's have acceptable brakes either... Otherwise, good idea.

Does Lutach have a 12s esc? (pardon me if I spelt your name wrong )
|
No, his is "only" 10s. :oh:

Been running 12S in my vehicles for quite a while now.. 12S Car capable ESCs are just expensive... you have the shulze, kontronik, MGM, and some others... I've been keeping mechanical brakes and just using Cheap $100 ESCs.. seems to work great for me... but This year, I've been cutting everything down to just 6-8S... 12S is just too insane to run... unless you're setting some speed records like JzeMaxx and some other crazy guys.... The Cheap hobbywing escs are pretty darn smooth for the $100 price tag...

IMO, it would be a really neat feature to have some of these cheap HV ESCs be able to be slaved to a "master" ESC. That way, the outputs could be paralleled to increase current capability.
