I belive most people shoot for right around 35- 38 mph .

brushlessboy16 05.31.2009 08:48 PM

35-45mph depending on the track.

Yup 40mph is perfect for just about any track

Last race I wound up dropping my gearing down to about 33-34MPH and ran quicker than when geared for 38. 54/15 gearing on a RC8T running a 1515 2.5D on 5s, started with 54/17. with the 54/15 I was still slightly faster, not by much though, than the nitros on the straight away. With 54/17 I could blow by them, but the lower gearing slowed me down enough to be faster and use less mah for the race.

Seems like mid 30s is a good starting point. Too much wheel speed and all you end up with is a bunch of wheel spin.

that is the truth.... but if you can drive and your batteries can finish the race with all that wheelspin then no biggie...

Maybe I can make it past 14:30 in a 15 minute main if i gear my truck for 35 instead of 47 :)

its pretty awesome that these motors can push these trucks this fast with the crazy gearing that some of us are putting in them, and STILL out accelerate the silly noise makers.. CC 2200kv ftw.

Gear for 40, and use the throttle EPA to adjust % down.. for needed mAH, or track size or given conditions even for your "loft" (lack of f'in talent) don't gear lower as the Tq just goes up... my 2c and I've played w/ them all.

67.67676767 mph is perfect!!!! wheelies everywhere even back flips! jk dude, i have my truggy around 42 mph

jzemaxx 05.31.2009 10:23 PM

I have tried everything from 30 to 45mph. 35mph seems to be perfect for most tracks but the tightest. Great run times and lots of punch out of the turns.

~35mph for me. I've geared it higher, but my lap times are worse. The fastest times I've done at my normal track it was geared for 32-33mph. I find slow and consistent driving is much faster than being overpowered.
A few weeks ago I did a 15 minutes final at a nitro track. My 4s packs won't do 15 min, so I used 3s2p 9800mah. I didn't change gearing, so it was only geared for 30, maybe even a bit under. Well I won the race, and had my fastest times of the day, which proved to me again that consitant driving is more important than all out speed. That was a big track as well, not a tight track with no straights.
