1600 vs 2000 medusa v2

got a question. I raced with a 1600kv medusa 12pinion for 20min temp was 140F, with 50 slip diff.

Today I tried my 2000kv with 11pinion within 11mins the temperature was 176f I had to stop before the motor burn.

What is the advise? Run 1600 higher pinion or 2000 lower pinion?

Hope to get 35mph n above without overheating.

you ran these on the same battery?

Same batt

What voltage were you running? The 1600 will typically run cooler/longer because of the lower KV. Draws less amps = less heat.

I'd run 1600 with a higher pinion.

Depends on the voltage, if it's anything above 4S the 1600 is the way to go.

Like I posted on rctech... the 2000 is too much to run on 6s, period.

IMO 1600 is ok for 6s, but would be best on 5s.

I would actually try it on 4s. There are others now running 4s 1700kv setups now... something I have done for a long time.

For now, just bump up one tooth and run the 6s 1600 again.

In my HST pro I run a 70-1600 on 6S geared 13/52 or 15/52 and I get great runtimes and temps. My truggy weighs about 11.5lb RTR.

Try lowering the pinion count on your 2000kv motor. If you calculate using power, your 2000kv motor is giving out more power than the 1600kv motor which explains why it heats up more. Even with a 11T the 2000kv motor on 6s still output more power than a 1600kv with 12T.

If all else fails, try lightening the weight of your truck.

Thx guys, can't lower the weight as car will not be as tough. I was thinking to change my spur of 50 to 46 n use 1600kv motor for my mains n heats.

Most prob is run 19/50 or 18/46 on 4s

6s will be 12/50, 11/46 or 13/50

Will keep u guys posted on d amp draw & temp.

Hell it's alot of work:)

:intello: that's because you can't decide which truck to run, so you drive one truck a block... run back to the other truck and drive it 2 blocks... then run back to the first truck and drive it another 2 blocks... and then back to the second truck and.....

Maybe you need a bigger and more efficient motor.

superek4 06.07.2009 10:28 AM

Depends with 4s(450g) or 6s(750g) but my CRT is d heavier truck compared to HB, losi n etc. If medusa can't handle then Neu. But it's not that, it's becoz I m running with nitro up to 30mins.

The electronics are still very new to this 1:8 market
