What motor would you pick?

I plan on running it in a Truggy on 5S. I'm leaning toward the KB45 but how would I get the shaft to 5mm?

Well IMO save up some money and get a better motor! Also IMO that isn't big enough for a truggy, that's more the size of a Neu 1512 which is typically used in a buggy. What ESC are you planning to run? MMM combo on 4s is a safe way to go, reliable and great customer service if you do have any problems. One thing I have learned in this hobby is to do it right the first time! Why spend $45+ on a motor that will last a couple months if your lucky.

um, that motor is quite big man, not small. It would destroy a 1512 Neu if given the power.

I run a 1512 Neu and it has all the power I would ever need, it just doesn't run quite as cool as I would like(will hit 160+F when pushed hard). Although, seeing as you can't get a CC 1512 motor, your best bet is a CC/Neu 1515 2200Kv motor.

The 2200 CC/Neu running on that Turnigy 5000mah 5s pack will rock your truck. Expect 2000watts from that setup.

Honestly, a MMM/2200 combo on 4s is PLENTY powerful in a truggy. If you use 5s and gear conservatively, you should see longer run times also.


That KB45 is plenty powerful, reason being is the sheer size. Its a 45mm can, not a 36 or 40mm. The mass is there to make power.

The KB has plenty of power, but has a 30mm bolt pattern and 6mm shaft. So you are stuck with making a mount and either turning the shaft to 5mm or using plastic spurs and the small selection non hardened pinions.

Go with the MMM/2200 combo. Best deal you will get.

kershaw designs' 6mm pinions are now hardened. their older ones weren't though.

Seeing he gets them from SDP I wonder if he is doing the hardening himself?
