Zippy lipo's how are they ?

Is there a Lipo section to talk about Lipo's ? if so where is it

I'm wanting Enerland cells but like to know what Zippy's use and how many charges people are getting out of them ?
Does Zippy really give the actual C rating or is it false advertisement as not load tested ?

Thanks

Zippy's are solid cells for the price. I don't own any (yet) so I can't make specific comments. The C ratings definitely are more accurate than the "Max"Amps ratings.

But without price being compared, Enerland cells are the best out there bar none.

I just ran my Raze Buggy with a MMM, 36-060-2000 medusa and 2 x 4S 2650mAh 30C Flightmax packs with good results. Ran for 10-15min of speed runs and easy bashing (no jumps). The batteries started with 4.15v/cell and ended with 3.82v/cell on all 8 cells. Temp at end of run was 80-82f on the packs, 115f on the motor and ~80f on the MMM. The byggy is geared 46t spur and 15t pinion.

Awesome detailed info, let us know how many charges it has been when you start to notice a decrease in run time or performance and charging numbers.

this zippy stuff is new so it would be great if there could be some reviews on them.

Thanks

ANybody have over 15-20+ charges on their Zippy's ?

I have a Rhino 1750mah 25C 2S pack for my RC18T. They are Zippies but under the Rhino name. The hottest they have ever gotten is 97*. I have around 23 charges on the pack and it is still peaking at over 1800mah and the cells are almost always perfectly balanced.

I run 2x 4000mah 25-35c 5s Zippy-H lipos in parallel in my ~13lb GorillaMaxx. Last trip out I got around 20 minutes or more of runtime, with temps around the 90*F mark. Starting voltage was 4.2v per cell, they ended up around 3.6-3.8v IIRC when I decided to end the run as they were starting to loose a bit of punch, though they were nowhere near LVC cutoff level. For the price they cant be beat, just the occasional QC issue with cold solder joints that are easily fixed really. Long term though, I dont think too many people have put enough cycles through their packs to provide info on how much punch they loose after x number of cycles, but I would expect them to last 100+ runs if treated well and balance charged everytime, pretty standard life for lipos.

good deal ,understood. great info again SNeil
maybe I'll take the chance on one, or I guess a Turnigy, now seeing the Z flightmax is on backorder and Turnigy is the replacement.

Wish I could afford Thunder Power.

any other suggestions, brand other than flightpower, ?

thank you very much
almost had a PQ 6s 6000 25 for $150. now I'm shopping again

SMC, hyperion, fantom, Mike's C-Tech batteries.

Zippy is the way to go if your on a budget. I am about to order three more for my emaxx and my upcomming project crawler.

At the number of questions directed towards zippies on this forum we could probly just put up a banner on the main forum page saying, "We support Zippy Lipo batteries, and tanks for visiting RCM!". It would make us look biased which I dought we are but from the number of people that use them on this forum it wouldn't be wrong either.

great idea,

I was just hoping for a Lipo discussion/review section , HINT HINT

everyone interested say " I "

people say " best bang for the buck" does that mean get a cheap battery now, but it wont last or will have problems in half the time a good lipo would last

Example: Good battery costs $200. lasts 100 + charges
cheap battery costs $100. lasts 50 charges.. half the time.
So here in my opinion the cheap may be worth it if your not racing and by the time the cheap lipo dies out a new better lipo will be out and probably cost less.

Wouldn't you say ?

I don't think you'll have problems with the life of the cells, I have used mine for a while and they are still like day one. As long as you care for them(blanacing, charging right, correct storage ect..)they will treat you well. They are soft cells though so you want to be careful as i've blown a soft pack with a rock getting lodged in it(in my rustler).

As far as making a new section I don't think its really needed as most of us know about the lipos and how they work(some of us more than others) but the new commer will most likely post a thread and we can answer whatever question they have there. Thats just me though so some other people may have other opinions.

ok,
I just thought it would be a nice sticky for reviews on lipo's, but perhaps it would not work with all the new lipos and they will evolve so it then becomes impossible to keep accurate info.

thanks all
Now if I could only order one, (they are all backorderd) :oh: and Turnigy is only 25c

bustitup 06.10.2009 12:10 PM

let me let you all in on a little secret

xps lipo's is the new kid on the block and getting rave reviews
do a search and you will find a thread at rcuniverse where many have used them and claim there as good or better than enerlands

I just bought 4 2s 5000mah 30c-50c to run 4s in my boats.... bats where $60 each
