Revo conversion questions

Hello guys, I have the opportunity to pick up a revo roller for a hundred bucks, that I really dont want to pass up. But first a few questions

My setup would be MMM , The castle 1515 1y, 4s and running standard Mt tires..

The main question- will the drive train blow apart into little bits with this setup?

second is why is the guy who owns it now running it on a MM 4600 and 2s. that is not a typo.

The MMM 1515-1y combo would be perfect for your conversion. That seems to be the setup of choice from all the revo conversions i've seen .

But will the diffs and transmission hold up

George16 06.08.2009 08:05 PM

It depends on how you drive.

The plastic transmission will not last though. You'll strip them in no time. I replaced my tranny gears with RRP metal gears and shimmed the stock diffs. So far so good. I have not strip any yet while running on 4 and 5S.

I remember a website for the diff shimming, anyone have a link?

Metal trans gears- got it.

My conversion will be running w/the new Tekin system w/1550 truggy motor on 6s. I replaced the stock trans w/a 3905 and the diffs w/Mike's new hybrid diff set up...so we shall see how it holds up

hybrids are a bit expensive for me, i can get LST/muggy diffs and cases, might be a nice alternative.

Yep that would be a cheaper alternative.

i`m running MMM with 2200 CC motor (1515 1Y) on 5s , my tranny seems to be holding up (FOC + Locked in 2nd) but i went with the hybrid diffs coz i was blowing the stock ones with a nitro engine :P bad quality vid but shows the fun :yipi:

Good stuff, thanks :)

If its a 2.5, you could opt for the MMM 2650 combo. I ran my 2.5 on the 2650 on 4s and it ran like a champ! Good speed, cool temps! My tranny was stock plastic, locked in 2nd.

kulangflow 06.09.2009 08:52 AM

I never really had a problem with the diffs on my Revos. In the past couple years of running them I've only replaced two diffs, and they were both from extremely harsh situations.

I already have the electronics from my truggy.. MMM v3, 2200, Ace ds1015 servo and a couple sets of batteries most 4s, one set of 6s

did you shim them?

lincpimp 06.09.2009 12:15 PM

If you run the lightest tires (lpr truggy) you should be able to run the stock diffs. I never had any issues with the 2 speed with plastic gears in my revo. I did not go thru diffs either, but my system had less power than yours will. If you plan to jump alot and land on throttle you will have issues. This truck will not be as solid as your cen truggy.
