ANYBODY DRIFT ??? I have a Q
 

I've ben wanting to build my drifter for months and finially starting to get around to doing it. I have a TC4 team kit car,M.M.4600 and 2s lipo power.
I have HPI titanium (blue)springs and need help deciding what shock oil weight and weither to lock or not the diffs ? I'm reading mixed opinions and I'm a little confused, I'd appreciate some reliable input ?

You'll want to lock the diffs or at least put really thick oil in them if they're not ball diffs.

How to lock them isn't really the issue,I've heard from different sources that learning to drift is easier or harder with locked diffys ?
They are ball diffs and I already locked them. It would make me feel better to hear from a experienced drifter "Yes, lock them. The learning curve is easier".

I've drifted a couple times, but it was with a recoil with stock set ball diffs and stock rubber tires.(with a Neu 1107) It was pretty fun until the tires blew :lol:

After that I made real abs drifting tires and it was pretty fun. I got tired of it and sold it though...:neutral:

I found the older I get the easier it is to drift..... off to sleep. One shoe on one on the floor, layed back in the recliner witha newspaper like a tent over my belly. Just like the old man after a bottle of whisky and rough day at work. I've got my old man beat though. I don't have to wait until I get home to drift.... I keep the whisky at work.

I did lock front & rear and it was a lot of fun, but I was using sportwerks 1/8 rubber tires and only 3s , rebuilding it now and going to try heavy grease open front with rear locked

Locked diffs, torque, and tires that have a little bit of grip to them. If you have no grip you'll be pretty much spinning out all the time and not actually "drifting." Too often I go to watch an RC "drifting" video and it's some guy spinning out.

Well, I finially finished the build. The parts were sitting for 4-5 months and got tired of looking at them. I ahve yet to test my set up due to rain. Looking forward to trying it out soon.
The paint; I "dusted" 1 coat of the flip/flop on befor the black but was still a bit much,The flash makes it look a lot heavier than it really is. You can hardly notice the flake until the light hits a certain angle. I guess I'm content even though it looks a tick ghetto.

I'm attempting to get into drifting, but there isnt much if any in ohio, I run a TC5 like Dickyt, I have a rear spooler (locked diff) and use HPI t-drift tires, yes they do spin out all the ime but I know how to control the drift somewhat. the t-drifts are smooth but the more you use them on the concreate the the more traction they get due to scratches on the tires. if you want more drift info I go to http://www.drccentral.com/forums/ind...15640&hl=setup
