how to drill input shaft
 

Hello,

I have a dremel but it seems can not drill the revo input shaft
I tried 25000-35000 speed and not work

can someone tell how i can make a hole 2mm Diameter?

drill press, with the shaft in a vise. Use light pressure or you'll break the bit and use oil to lube and cool. Also set the drill press on a low speed. I did it once on a maxx shaft, took 1/2 hour and 3 bits. Those shafts are hardend steel, very tough to drill through. The dremel can be used to make a small flat spot on the shaft and make it easier to start the hole.

Edit: To reduce the chance of breaking bits, slide them up into the chuck so only a little bit of it is sticking out and raise what you're working on. With less of the bit sticking out of the chuck, there is less to flex and eventually break if you use too much pressure.

You may want to use a Cobalt drill bit. If you go to the hardware store buy at least a couple in the size you need. They break and dull trying to jobs like this.

Wear safety glasses. If the drill bit breaks. It can be like a bullet. I had a broken bit bounce off my forhead trying something similar. I had no safety glasses on, I was lucky!

I used carbide-tipped drill bits on my drill press set on lowest speed. It only takes a minute or two to get it done. Carbide bits are the shizzle.

yea I was using cheapo bits with the titanium nitride coating. They dull pretty quick on hard stuff like that, and being so small they like to flex and break. between setp and changing bits total time was about 1/2hr. But like anything, with the right tools, even a tedious job becomes easy.

Just type 'carbide-tipped drill bits' into google or ebay, loads of results come up pretty easily. I assume you're modifying your emaxx tranny to take the 3905 slipper?

No its already modified. but i want make it shorter to accept cheap motor's that has 12mm-15mm shaft lenth so i have to drill a hole near the stock hole about 3mm :)
