Well, while im waiting on my Tekno kit to arrive i went ahead and used the losi conversion kit. I am having a problem with the center diff rubbing the diff mounts mainly the rear one that is CNCd. Any thoughts on this? anyone else ran into this issue?

are you using the plastic or steel spur.

being that i am using the losi kit, it will only let u use the smaller 45t spur. The pics below are from another post where i was having an issue because of the larger 48t spur gear, it was rubbing the bottom of the chassis. After listening to some folks we came to the conslusion that you can only use the 45t unless u want to dremel out the chassis to allow the gear to clear. So i am using the 45t plastic gear just because i want to run my car today and not have to wait another day or 2 for the tekno kit.

for whatever reason they made the plastic spur thicker than the steel one. I just gave 'er a little throttle and held some 60 grit sand paper up to it. Shaved it right down, and hasn't given me any problems.

Here is a a pic with the 45t plastic spur gear. notice how close the gear is the the rear cnc'd center diff mount. it rubbing, not sure why everything is the way ti should be. i just want to know if this is common or not, i could shim it i guess, or dremel the mount.

I have read several post on rctech with the same issues.

oh well, its only for today i think mon or tue my tekno kit will be here, wonder if u can use the losi motor mount with the tekno kit?

This seems to be a common issue with the plastic spur. Don't shim, just dremel a little from what you see is hitting (from the picture it looks like it is the bottom plastic spacer/dirt cover), and it could also be the gear guard.

Yep, looks like it is rubbing at the bottom on the black plastic riser. Is there any slop that will allow the diff to shift backward and the spur contact the motor mount? If so you may need a 14mm shim between the bearing and the motor mount. I would just trim the opening in the diff riser to clear the spur and shim the bearing to keep the spur off the motor mount.

See my post in the other thread.. to make it short the key is how you get the bearing on the spur side to sit into the CNC mount, if it's not perfect and you don't get it setting properly then you will have issues.

the bearing only goes in one way. it snaps right into place. what other way is there

correct it only goes one way, but you need to get it in the cnc part and then (hard to describe) kind of pull it forward a little bit, there is a tiny bit of play. This play seems to be just enough to avoid the rubbing. I pulled the 8e 2.0 apart and there are not any extra spacers/shims etc, its just put together with the o-rings and a single diff shim as shown in the manual. The mount parts are all the normal kit as well. Another guy noted on the other thread that there maybe differences in the actual spur itself? Manufacturing issues?? Now that is pretty interesting, if that is the case, it would cause many of these issues... I don't have extra's to measure, anyone help out here?

I just use the kyosho 46t plastic spur. With the Losi mount, there is no play. With the rcm mount, there is a little bit of play that is solved with a 8x12x.5mm shim between the bearing and the spur.
