Which MMM combo for my hb d8?
hey guys i got my hb d8 this weekend and at first i had a feigao fg36 2084kv it ran great but at the end of my run the temp was 217 wayyyyyyyyyyy to hot.So i tried a losi xcelorin that my dad traded me for the feigao and a mmm esc.The xcelorin combo did'nt do any better than the feigao ,i had it all maxed out and it was on 5s.So now that it isn't putting out the power i want i am going to sell it to get a mmm combo. The only problem i am having is chosing which one.I have a track in my yard the i drive on all the time so i will only be using it for racing and practing on the track ,maybe some bashing:).i have had a 2200 in my e-revo before and it ran great but i heard the 2650 was very good to.I know since i have a 5s battery that i will have to lower to 4s.But why i am posting this is to ask you guys what ur opinion is on these combos and which you think is better. Thanks for your time.

For 5s the 2200 is a better choice. If you go with 4s get the 2650. I have had great success with the 2200 on 5s. I do have a 2650 that I plan to run on 4s, but have not had the chance yet.

Even though your not supposed to run the 2650 on 5s, i do. And really then, its only practical for speed runs. However it's never more than 10 degrees F warmer than on 4s no matter what. I've run it on both voltages on a track that is only 60 feet long, and a track with a 200 ft straight, and despite that it is geared for 50 mph on 5s (11 tooth pinon and its the smallest practical pinion gear you can use.), i still get about the same temps on both tracks. 150-160F for 5s and 140-150 on 4s. Honestly, unless you are just backyard bashing, you will get a lot more runtime and better laptimes with a 1700-1900 kv motor. Look into the tekin T8 motors which are similar to the neu and castle motors, but have more kv options.

Or as many do go w/ the Medusa's w/ a coupon if it's still available, great motors. I've been running a v2 afterburner (36x60mm) in my buggy for two years. I seal up the ends with some tape to keep the dust out, but other than that they rock expecially for the price, there is no better deal if the Castle 2200 is too high for you. Not talking the new T8's down but you can buy two Medusa's for their price.
