lipo puffing advice

hi guys i need your advice.
i bought 2 zippy-r lipos about 2 months ago but because i was waiting on 6.5mm connectors fom my LHS i haven't used them until last week.
i have used them about 5 times and i have had some concerns. they puff like a mother and one of the packs remains a bit puffy even when it has cooled and been left for the day.
i payed £80 for the pair ~ $132
i am dissapointed as i thought they would offer amazing perfomrance and i certainly wasn't expecting them to puff.
they are 14.8V 4500mah 21/35C lipos so i used them in parallel so i thought they should be up to it. i have contacted the seller and let him know but i feel like an idiot leaving it so long to test them...

what should i do

What were they being run in, and what gearing was being used?

Dual 4s 4500mAh in parallel (4s 9000mAh total) should have been more than sufficient for most setups. Unless the packs were "weakened" from prior abuse.

hi brian, they were used in my CRT, Mamba monster 2200kv combo 46T plastic spur gear and my smallest pinion = 12T

That doesn't sound unreasonable IMO. They should have lasted. I can see if you were running ONE 4s 4500mAh, but like I said, two of those in parallel should have been more than enough.

are they safe to continue using them?
the seller said that large lipos like these "puff under load" but i would have thought they would have settled after a day

Hmm, that sounds like a load of BS to me. Properly sized lipos shouldn't puff at all IMO. As far as safety, I might use them depending on how much puff there is, but not in that setup anymore - maybe in something much smaller/lighter.
