Cheapest durable brushless basher

I'm looking to get a new RC, right now I have a brushed E-Revo (will be sold).
I'm a student and have to mind my budget quite a bit, but don't hold back any options if you think it'll be too expensive, I'll decide if it's too expensive...

The most important thing for me is durability and sturdiness.
I want to bash hard without having to buy replacement parts too often, as they're not cheap here in Belgium...

I like the look of MT's and Truggy's, maybe buggy's.

I've been searching for a while now and have concluded this:
- If I go MT, I'd buy a used ERBE.
- If I go Truggy, I'd buy a used MBX5T Prospec or Hyper ST Pro.
(Either way I'll buy lipo's and stuff from HC.)

But to my surprise the Truggy option is more expensive than the E-Revo option... If I buy a used E-Revo I get everything with it, except lipo's and charger.
If I buy a Truggy roller, I still have to buy:
- Motor mount
- wheels & tires
- Radio system
- Motor
- ESC
- And ofcourse Lipo's and charger.

Is there a cheaper way to get one of these 1/8 truggy's brushless?
Or should I be looking at 1/10 scale truggy's & MT's? Are they as durable?
Or do you have another idea for me?
Thanks a lot!

I would get a 1/8 Truggy. The ERBE is good but the drivetrain is no not as bullet proof as a 1/8 Truggy.

i too would go for a 1/8 truggy. Drivetrains are usually much stronger., and seem more durable in general.

I also think the MMM combo with 4s or 5s is def a good system.

just buy the mamba monster combo, then you will have a brushless e-revo
minus the 2.4 ghz

And also the 17mm hex hubs.

I won't do this, because it's cheaper to buy an erbe than to upgrade the E-Revo I've got...

My vote also goes to a 1/8 truggy w/the castle system...cheapest way out and it will be reliable as well. Unless you can find someone selling motor/esc separately and you could possibly do a bit better

Given how many people are selling their stuff or thinnning it out, you should be able to find something good 2nd hand for sale- cheaper than a new build or conversion. Dont let the erevo go for too cheap though, you'll only regret it later (nostaglia is a real bitch sometimes... ... anyone got a TXT-1 for sale?)...

I've been thinking to buy a used and already converted truggy roller. Since that might be a bit cheaper...
But noone seems to be selling that... :/ (they're probably too happy with it! ;) )

Where do you think I can find the cheapest used truggy? I'm already looking at RCTech, RCGroups and Ebay.

Maybe I should get me a CRT.5, that's a lot cheaper. Are they as durable as the mbx5t or hyper st?
Is there a better 1/12 or 1/10 truggy for me out there?

The crt.5 is a great little truck...I have 2. However, any major mans. 1/8 scale buggy or truggy, is a lot more durable that the crt.5 IMO. I also own a converted mbx-5. In saying that, the crt.5 is a fun truck and w/Mike's kit, is a snap to convert.

Skip the erevo if you want something durable. A clean converted truggy roller may be your best bet. Drivetrains on 1/8 truggies are about as strong as you will get stock.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Exceed 1/8 Truggy had a stronger drivetrain than the E Revo. Squirrel used a LRP .28 with no problems...

I'd also go for a truggy. It will be cheaper in the long run, as less things will break on it. I happen to also have a converted Losi 8ight-t for sale if you're interested... PM me for more info if you want.

Used truggy all the way. You can get a solid basher for around $150-200 for the roller. Maybe even cheaper if you're willing to buy an older model (which is definitely what I would look for in a basher).

You can get some SICK deals if you just spend a little time looking. Fully converted buggies and truggies sell for a bit more than their nitro counter parts but they are still cheap when comparing to buying new. I bought a RC8 nitro buggy for under $200 shipped from someone here on RCM, everything minus the electronics. Bought a brand new Hitec 7955TG servo for $90 elsewhere. Going to get some HC 4s Lipos and a 2200 CC motor and a conversion kit from mike for the RC8. Dunno how much 2200 CC motors sell for. So if I added it all up I'm looking at ~$700 from the ground up.
There are cheaper routes: Go with just a motor mount instead of the chassis kit, go with HC ESC and motor, could have bought an older 5955 servo. Going the cheaper route would have (or could) saved me $200 or more. But I already have a RC8T fully decked to my liking, I wanna make the buggy the same way

i would keep checking rc-monster and the top 50 pages of the rc-tech for sale forum... Usually what I see happen is that in a day a post that was on the first page will then be on the 12th, and when it is so far back is when the seller starts to drop the price... I while ago i found a losi 8-t 2.0 roller, with 4 professionally painted bodies f/s for $175, which is quite a deal. just keep looking!
