Need: 4-6 45Amp PowerPole Contacts
 

Well, I bought 2 Turnigy's...
Turns out they use big freaking wires.. 10GA, what the hell.

So I bought a 15 pack of 30A PowerPoles awhile ago, and got both of them today.

Would've been a PERFECT day today, if only I would've gotten the 45As..

So if anyone has any extra 45A contacts, PM me!

While 45A contacts would certainly be ideal, I have gotten by with the 30A's by just trimming the wire at the end to fit in the smaller contact.

The contacts, wires, etc have never been over room temperature even in crazy high amp set-ups, so I figure the current is getting through there without any problems.

Just a thought anyway to get you running until you find the bigger ones.

I just had a look at power pole prices... Seems like I can get 25 pairs of plugs for around 1 dollar per pair. Not too bad. These are the 30amp models that have the bullet design for soldering. Should I get the 45 amp instead? I plan to use these on my hv setups, as they will work for series wiring without adapters.

Definitely get the 45As.
This way you can get 10GA, and if you have higher, just fill in the gaps with solder, or, get a nice clean contact, and then use strong pliers to crush the bullet into the wire.

If you crush too much, it'll make a flat design, and you'll have to do something to "uncrush" it.

I'm having doubts about getting my 30As.

For a couple bucks more, I could've gotten 45A, like, a buck or two, dang.

Linc, for some reason, I really wanted Yellow and Black, but powerwerx didn't take paypal, so I had to go run to eBay, thus what I have 30A stuff.
Lame huh?

Yellow and Black will REALLY stand out when you plug em in, not fool proof, but pretty much rawbun proof! :]

We used about 28 of them on our schools comp robot for a giant quick release electronics board... works well and no heat problems.

Once I'm done with my current stock of 30A's, then I'll start buying 45A's. It'll be a while though, because I have a lot of 30A's. :-)

Soldering. They're the easiest connectors to solder that I've used., IMO. Much quicker and easier than Dean's and TRX connectors anyway.

Power Poles are pretty common items. I've found them at hobby shops and electronic shops. You might want to call around to a couple of local places. If not, the 30A's should work just fine.

So are the 30 amp models doing fine with most setups? I mainly run 5 and 6s now, so I do not have the crazy amp draw of 4s. I may have to give these a try, just have to sell some stuff before I buy anything else!

The 30A have been working great for all my set-ups for a few years now. I've yet to see one get above ambient temperature even in high-amp set-ups. (E-Revo, 4s, 24/54 gearing for speed runs.) The only reason I'd ever go to 45A is because it'd be easier to fit larger gauge wires.

Another great advantage is that they're not gender specific. I use Dean's on my mini vehicles, and I often find myself with too many of one and not enough of the other, requiring and extra trip to the LHS. They also work great for series connections without needing Y-harnesses.

Good info, I will have to pick some up and see what I think of them. They do look easy to solder, and I like the idea that they are not gender specific. Omnisexual - kinda gross if you think about it....

how hot should connectors get? in my 8ight B they get pretty warm

If they're getting hot they either have too much resistance for the set-up or are really close to something else that is really hot.

What kind of connectors are you using? Are you geared conservatively? Also, you might want to check your connections to make sure they are soldered well. Also, make sure your wires aren't longer than necessary.

I just started soldering them yesterday.
Good god do they look terrible.
After I finished soldering, they look like me, went from Hell and back!

But another set later (I actually got them to fit in the housing! I hope it says cool, and doesn't have as much resistance, or melt the housing....=/
It gets nicer and nicer...


I should've bought an extra pair, but he only had em in 10s and 5s.
