Will Castle Creations do a free repair/replace on an ORIGINAL MMM?
I have one of the very first out MMM's and it got burnt up (pretty quick at that). I have yet to send it in as I was not sure if they would charge the 75.00 flat rate repair on it?
Obviously there were some design flaws in the original MMM's hence the newer versions. This just makes me think maybe they will do a lesser-cost repair (or even free) repair/replacement??? I have never dealt with CC repairs before so not sure what to expect. Thanks in advance! Mike |
v1/2 replaced free

Pretty pathetic if you ask me, they had years to design the thing...

Thank you for that value add post

Sry Arc, sometimes I can't resist...

Thanks for the info. Very helpful!
Any idea if they replace with a brand new unit or do they just rebuild to V3 (or whatever is current) specs? I am guessing they made changes to the board so im guessing they just issue new units. |
Brand new...

I have one of the V2 MMM's. It's still running STRONG. This thing has pushed around my E maxx, and now it's pushing around my E Revo.
It has had numerous different brand packs ran with it, and numbers of cycles. Everyone that has had a MMM failure has usually spoken up. Maybe it's time I speak up. This ESC has ran 6S, 5S, and now mainly serves 4S duty. IMO, a good working V1 or a V2 is worth more than a new V3. The V1's and the V2's have a LIFETIME warranty. This means, 10 years from now, when my MMM has ran around for 100's of miles and been totally tortured to death, I can send it in for a brand NEW replacement. That's some kind of deal right there. My hat's off to you Castle. A GREAT warranty worth looking forward to, but something tells me, It's gonna be a long time! |
Kinda piggy-backing onto this thread, but my question is pretty close..
So, I just picked up a pretty good deal on a buggy roller with an MMM and medusa motor on ebay. I was a bit eager in bidding, and I overlooked the "V1" which I should have noticed. It's in working order now, but is it advisable to have castle replace it with a v3? Will they even do that if I don't have the original receipt? Thanks |

Update it with the latest firmware and it will live. Then later, when/if it gives you any problems, send it in. I don't think the warranty goes with the receipt. I'm pretty sure the receipt isn't required. |
I was thinking of doing just that, but is there a risk to my lipos if this thing smokes?
|
No, the issue was on the BEC side and doesn't typically affect lipos. With the V1 you have a warranty for as long as it lives, but with a V3, unless you have the receipt you will have a new unit with no warranty. My theory is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Much better deal having a lifetime warranty V1 that works than getting a V3 with no warranty. My V2 has been running flawlessly for a year now on 6s. It has seen duty in an e-maxx, e-revo, and LST2.

Awesome! I won't worry about it then. Other than the possibility of it going up in smoke, is there anything else different about the v1 from the v3 I already have? Sorry, I haven't done a super extensive search; I pretty much know about the BEC issue and that's it.

No, functionally they work the same and offer the same performance and use the same firmware.
