3095 e-maxx needs hardened ring gear
 

hi all. My question to monster staff is this. Which ring gear and pinion is best to buy as there are 3 different ones on the web site at varying prices? i am running mm combo 2200kv with 5 and 6 cell flight power lipos so original crown wheel did not last long on this power, mind you it has not done bad its the original one and its around 8 years old :whip:. also whats all this hot bodies diff i see on the web site? i trust they fit in original e maxx diff casing? one more question as they are not in stock how long can i expect to wait for u.k. delivery? thanks all, chris.

Stock 3906 emaxx diffs = epic fail, quite often.

3.3spec diffs = better, but still weak

3905 diffs = much better.

Anyway, the hotbodies diff thing refers to 1/8 scale diffs- you can only use them with FLM Hybrid diffs/bulks, or UE Ultra Lite diff cases.

You could beef up your existing diffs with a metal cup, case and hardend ring gear, but you need to tell us which specific diffs you have now (model of emaxx?).

I would rather spend the money on FLM hybrids though, atleast that way you are removing the biggest weak link which is the spider gears- 4 spiders vs 6.

hi neil...i have a 3906 e-maxx, its was the very first version without the wide arms but is fitted with the proline widemaxx kit. i have ally bulkheads fitted to it. i thought i would buy ally diff casings and hardened crown wheel and pinion to do the job but was also looking at using 8th scale diffs also, which ever one is the toughest. thanks neil hope you are enjoying the sunshine down in sunny devon :yes:.

Hello I'm new to the tc world and need some help.... I have a traxxas slayer conversion. To electric....the thing flies and handles both on the ground and In the air...however I have had to rebuil the transmission like four times.....I already turnned the punch control down to 50%. And it still rips through the transmission gears..... So here is my ??? Do u think a e maxx trans will bolt in to the slayer.... And even better does any one make the slayer trans gears in hardened steel???? If so where can I get them..... Thanks

hi Cmendastrtduk/all...well i doubt the e-maxx g/box will fit in ur slayer and as the slayer is quite new maybe no ones made any aftermarket parts for it yet so best bet is too get someone to make you sum cogs out of metal. i had same problem on me e-maxx so i made my cogs (i have a mill and lathe) out of 6082 t6 ally to keep them light, they take the mamba combo at 6s no problem. i trust u like to jump, this is heavy on the transmission how are ur diffs coping? the slayer has switchable diff lock? sounds handy. trouble with having cogs made is you need a different cutter for different size cogs so it can work out dear just to buy the cutters, they around £40.00 each, check my photos on the x project section to see my handy work.

You need to turn the punch control UP to reduce the stress on the tranny gears.

Since the Slayer is just a truncated revo, you can happily bolt an emaxx 3905 tranny into it- you just have to make a little mounting adaptor due to the different screw pattern/ width:

Very straight forward- make a cardboard template to get the holes in the right locations, and the shape correct.

FYI though:

1. Posting the same question in several places is called spamming.

2. The Summit has the crappy locking diffs that strip if you try shifting whilst on the move.

3. Loving the sun, though Im working inside (retail sector, yay)- monday and tuesday off though... :yipi:

hi neil/all...i was thinking he wanted to drop the 3906 trans in his slayer :lol:.
so these 8th scale diffs do they have 8mm drive cups so i can use existing drive shafts?

Yep, they have an 8mm shaft that needs something like a HotBodies or other 1/8 scale drive cup, or Mike sells various suitable items & adapters.

Pass. If you look up the exploded views on the traxxas website though, and cross reference the part#, that should give you a definate answer.
