Will repainted motors overheat??

I'm having a friend repaint two of my brushless motors. Just wondering if this will cause the motors to run any hotter with prime etc being put on them so they can be painted?

I doubt it, its the same surface area to dissipate heat regardless of the color or coating.

I would not paint the motor, unless it were to be anodized with different colours...

Well, I would think they would be a little hotter. A couple coats of paint is adding an insulating layer, no matter how thin. Anodizing would be the best bet IMO.

red is good for an extra 1000/kv

Sweet......shakes a can of red paint.

Don't forget your NOS sticker then. That'll add more power and torque.

It's the mixing of stickers that adds the most HP, for example you need a TRD Racing and a VTEC sticker to get the most from the upgrade!

Doesn't anodizing insulate as well?

Bondonutz 06.28.2009 04:22 PM

A few coats may yeild a few derees difference at most I think.

Anodizing is a coating also but much thinner than any paint, I'd call it more of a "stain".

If your motor doesn't feel cold any more when it's at room temperature, then you know the paint has insulated the motor quite a bit.
