what better for bashing dx3s or dx3r?

just wanna know what would be better for bashing i have an emaxx with mmmv3 2200 combo what radio should i get dx3s or dx3r?

hootie7159 07.02.2009 02:14 AM

bashing....a dx3.0 or even 2.0 would be fine.....no need for the high end dx3s or higher end dx3r if all you do is bash....although the dx3s would be lighter and save you some $$$ (4AA's vs. 8AA's)on batteries unless you ahve a rechargable pack.......i run a dx3s on my rc8t mostly for the ability to read motor temps with telemetry....but im getting a losi 2.4ghz for my mini e-revo

darkdemon 07.02.2009 02:30 AM

cool thanks for info hows the dx3s work like dose it give fairly good readings?

Caution - They just released a DSM2 compatible S make sure you get that version...

I bought the S and returned it for the R - 10 cars wasn't enough and needed a 3 pos aux

E-Revonut 07.02.2009 09:43 AM

I bought the DX3R when I was just a basher, it had just come out and the S wasn't even on the table at the time. I'm very happy with the R, I may not use many of the functions it has but I like how it feels and the light weight. After feeling the S I think it looks and feels cheap, but the telemetry function is nice.

I have a DX3S and DX3R and the feel of the DX3R is so much nicer than the DX3S. For the price I paid for the DX3R ($234.99 shipped), I wish I had bought it first instead of the DX3S. That being said though, you really don't need either for bashing. The DX2.0 or DX3.0 is more than sufficient for bashing.

Why not a futaba 3pm FAAST system? I just ordered mine. Many more features than a DX3.0 and great batt life.

nitrostarter 07.02.2009 06:21 PM

Yep, for bashing the 3PM would be a nice choice as well.

boostedg60rado 07.02.2009 08:32 PM

I would get the futaba 3pm in 2.4 ghz. I have had spektrums over the years and there range isnt the best they like to eat recievers in my opinion. And they just feel cheap in your hands.

The futaba is the better choice hands down.

magman 07.02.2009 08:58 PM

I have the Futaba 3PM and love it......my only complaint it the short batt. life even w/8 re-chargeable. TrueRc makes a li-po set up for it so I may have to break down and try it.

i have a futaba 3pm 2.4ghz radio, they work great no problems yet, the batteries do ran out kinda soon, but other than that i recommend it.

brushlessboy16 01.01.2010 12:38 PM

Im spoiled on spektrum, dx2.50, now i have the 3s, its actually pretty nice. (got it for xmas) to be blunt- it wasnt my money and its a decent radio- im happy :)

RUSTY XL-5 01.01.2010 07:20 PM

I used to have a spektrum DX3 but later sold it when I sold of my rusty (I miss it :(). When I had the spektrum I could only go 500ft. or so and every now and then I would loose signal. Since I am now building my self and EREVO I was considering buying a DX3S or R (mainly looking at the S) but decided against them and just bought a Futaba 3PM FASST. I've never heard any complaints about the Futaba radios, but I have heard several about the spektrums. I desiced against the Spekys because one, the Futaba is cheaper, and two, if I'm spending well over 100$ on a radio, I want it to work flawlessly. :mdr:

hootie7159 01.01.2010 10:17 PM

sold my dx3s when i sold my rc8e....picked up a tactic 2.4ghz.....unless you're a hardcore racer and need to set throttle endpoints, telemetry and stuff like that...all i cared about was servo and throttle trim and steering rate.......otherwise, this rx/tx is good...i picked one up off ebay for $70 shipped and got another rx for my sc8 for $20....works just as well as my dx3s and dx3.0.....

shaunjohnson 01.02.2010 03:09 AM

for bashing.
get a DX2.0 then do the resister mod to convert it to a DX3.0 :mdr:

i really liked my old DX2.0 and my new DX3s is a little glitchy! :gasp:
every now and then it will blip but not when racing.

the telemetry rocks if you run nitro like i did for a bit but it's kinda pointless for electric besides to be used as a speed meter which is pretty cool.
that way you can SHOW the noobs who come and watch how fast it goes.
